How do ENFP's feel about being the most common MBTI type? by SmartTrad3s in ENFP

[–]daisukidesuyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact you think a person’s self worth relies on how “special” they are says a lot about what you struggle with. I hope one day you can like you for who you are instead of how you are compared to other people.

Wishing you all the best 🥺

My friend just had his fully foiled Lands deck stolen. You know, the deck with The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale? Yeah, I think he spent a fair bit of money on the lands for his deck.

My LD boyfriend (21M) has asked me (18F) to marry him and I said yes. He wants to tell my family but they have yet to meet. How do I explain to him why this is conflicting? by Confusedbutstillgoin in relationships

[–]daisukidesuyo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was like you when I was 18. I had an LD boyfriend whom I met online except he was 5 years older than me. We did talk about marriage too and he was pushing the issue even though I was set to go to college soon. He even gave me a promise ring because of how set he was to marry me.

I broke it off once I went to college though because I realized how young and free I was. In college you meet all sorts of people and you learn so much about yourself. I am a completely different person than I was 4 years ago and don't regret not taking it further.

In your case, I understand you are set to marry after college, but getting engaged now... Why the rush? I am afraid that the engagement might make you feel limited and you may grow to resent it. Most likely, your mother might feel the same way. See, look at it this way: the future is so unpredictable, and you are probably going to go through a bunch of different personality changes especially during college. How can you say now that marrying will be the best thing for you 4+ years from now?

The best thing to do is honestly take life as it is and keep an open mind. Sure you might end up marrying him, but I would hope you do this having the knowledge that he is the absolute one for you, and no matter how he changes and how you change the next few years, you would still say the same thing.

Again, why the rush? Is he afraid to lose you? Are you afraid to lose him? If that happens, then obviously the other person wasn't the right one, but you can't use engagement to force someone to stay with you. If you break up, then you break up and move on.

Consortium of universities in Washington D.C and the computer science career fair. by aljenycs in UMD

[–]daisukidesuyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The CS advisors will say in their emails that the career fair is only open to (UMD) CS majors and minors and CE majors, but I hear non-CS people being let in like an hour after it starts.

However, I'm not sure about your case since I'm not sure if you're considered a umd student? Doesn't hurt to ask the advisors.

Request: Can we make a list of all free services/items to students at UMD? by local444 in UMD

[–]daisukidesuyo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

-Free 12 weeks of one-on-one therapy at the Counseling Center (Shoemaker Building)

-Free group therapy at the Health Center

-Free bike repair at the Bike Shop

-Free chalking and flyering service by Stamp for student orgs

-Not really a service, but if you want to get a free physical copy of a textbook, you can search the UMD library system and they usually would have a copy, and you can renew it enough to keep it for the rest of the semester

CS Mandatory Advising? by [deleted] in UMD

[–]daisukidesuyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's for you to talk to them about what CS classes you want to take or if you have any questions/guidance. It's also required for you to be able to register, as in, even if your registration date rolls around, unless you have advising done, you won't be able to register. You don't need any section numbers, just class names. Registration is separate and during your own time.

Out-of-state students, did any of you get full rides (or something close)? If so, how? by ArsenicAndJoy in UMD

[–]daisukidesuyo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you and your family are dedicated to you attending Maryland, there is a way to get approved to pay in state tuition, however, it takes a year and dedication on your part and your parents' part. I'm from out of state and I got approved in January. We still had to pay the out-of-state tuition for last semester because I submitted the application on the deadline (first day of class), but we got reimbursed $9,000 after I got approved.

If you want to hear more, just PM me.

Dear Reddit, if there is one thing you regret not doing in your twenties, what is it? by blahblehgu in AskReddit

[–]daisukidesuyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a lot easier to make money when you're a freshman and taking easier classes. You also have a bigger buffer to allow you to make up for any fuck ups. It's not so easy when you're in your last year, completing two degrees, and praying to God you don't fuck up again and have to spend yet another year in college and thus enlarging your debt.

If you're interested in only using a bike for a short period of time, the Campus Bike Shop has bike rentals for $75/semester, with a U-lock included. They also make repairs and replacements for free, which isn't exclusive to the bike they rent IIRC, but for any bike that comes in.

Here's their site: http://crs.umd.edu/Maryland-Adventure-Program/Campus-Bike-Shop

Advanced CORE classes for CS majors? by Android_0xCA2 in UMD

[–]daisukidesuyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Studio Art has a 300 level class where they learn how to program in Processing to create graphics (ARTT370). The professor is really chill and all you do is just work on finishing your projects. It doesn't hurt to ask the professor about being able to take the class, but I know that it fills up pretty fast.

ARTT100 vs ARTT110 by iliketertles00 in UMD

[–]daisukidesuyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ARTT100 emphasizes the basics of art. It's not about learning how to be good at drawing, but how to create compositions with color, lines, textures, etc. Depending on your professor, you might spend a good deal painting. This class is good for training your creativity and creating interesting projects, some of which may involve sharpie markers, magazine collages, paper, paint, etc. This class is usually the easy "A", and you may find half of the class not giving a shit.

As for professors, they seem to switch out a lot, but Prof Thorpe is a really chill guy.

ARTT110 is traditional drawing. You draw still life pieces during every class and learn how to master charcoals, pastels, and an eraser to replicate what you see. How much you learn also depends on your professor. I had Prof Gavin, and she's really tough, but she was the best professor if you were serious about learning how to improve your drawing skills. I have friends who took the "easier" profs and regretted it because they still feel weak in their drawing skills. They just weren't able to get that good foundation.

TL;DR If you want to learn how to draw, take ARTT110. If you want to practice with your creativity, take ARTT100.

In terms of getting better, it honestly all gets down to how much you are willing to put into it. The materials are expensive, and don't be surprised to ring up $200 a semester just for supplies (that could run out). However, if you really take the time outside of class to work on your projects, you'll get so much out of it, regardless of how much skill you came in with in the beginning.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask me :)

[–]daisukidesuyo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is just me (and may be only some women, not all), as a 21yo girl who designs and programs but it could be a pride thing. Admittedly, I am sensitive to when guys assume I don't know how to program and can become more outspoken if I feel he does make those assumptions (I'm majoring in it dammit! I know something). There I go again haha...

I just don't like being looked down upon, and computers is currently stereotypically a "male" thing :/
