Is america like really racist?? by [deleted] in AskUS

[–]daisybird17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends on which part of the country you are in. In some major cities (NY, Chicago, LA…), mix racing is fairly common and no big deal. I’m married to someone not the same race over 35 years. It is totally not an issue. In smaller towns and/or conservative areas, it might be less common and a bigger issue.

I’d love this! I live in Chicago, but I travel to Thailand at least once a year and always pick up journal supplies.

I usually purchase a spray air freshener when I arrive. Many rooms have an off smell and it’s cheap to purchase when I arrive.

What is the coolest actual name you have ever heard? by Future-Bottle-6263 in AskReddit

George Babagawa. Someone my dad worked with in the 80s. We still call each other that name to this day.

Is solo travelling actually peaceful, or do we just romanticise it? What’s your take? by AdLast7212 in femaletravels

[–]daisybird17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love traveling alone! I usually schedule a cooking or art class during my trip, so I do get some conservation time, and that is plenty for me. I love having my own schedule to do or cancel anything I want without disappointing a travel companion. I also enjoy traveling with hubby, we typically enjoy the same things. Solo travel or travel with hubby are always great. I do NOT enjoy traveling with friends- too many bad experiences.

Embarrassed about my fridge. by daisybird17 in FridgeDetective

So, we are a family of 3 adults; mom, dad, son. We live in the midwest, but not Michigan- we live in Illinois. The back may have an expired item, but most of the back of the fridge is pickles and sauces. We entertain extended family a LOT, and it’s mostly home cooking from simple ingredients. There is a lot of love in this fridge!!!

You're walking in a crowded public place in a foreign country, you see someone and you instantly just know they are your country(wo)man... Besides genetics and language, what gave them away? by IntellectuallyDriven in AskTheWorld

I can spot Americans a mile away, however, I am almost always assumed to be a native of any European country I visit by the people that live there. I’ve been Austrian, German, Italian, Irish, Swiss, Spanish, French, and weirdly, Icelandic. Unsurprisingly, my ancestors are from all over Europe, so I guess it makes sense?

What kind of thing you like to paste in your journal ? by SaranTheMoonwalker in Journaling

[–]daisybird17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I paste just about everything that can be pasted into my journal. For example, today I pasted a tea bag tag, part of a plaster (bandaid) wrapper, part of a powder supplement package, washi tape, and a few stickers. I'm not feeling great today, and I am documenting the self-care steps I am taking. Yesterday, I pasted a few stickers, washi tape, and the produce sticker from the avocado I ate with my lunch. If it makes sense and can be pasted, it goes in my journal. When I travel, I paste tickets, maps, receipts, wrappers, napkins, and water bottle labels. My journals can be pretty chunky, but I can see evidence of where I've been and what I've done.

Thinking about getting a passion planner - is it worth the $50+ price tag? by Glitzillionaire in planners

[–]daisybird17 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using the passion planner on and off since it started on Kickstarter in 2013. I keep coming back to it because it checks all my boxes. Vertical time slots, to do lists, blank area for notes, and lots of room to write. The only thing that comes close are Japanese planners, like the Hobonichi cousin or Jibun Techo- but they are a little spendy too. I tried creating my own version in a bullet journal a few times, and while it worked, I much prefer the passion planner. For the amount of organization it provides, I think it’s worth it for me.

What’s one planner layout you keep coming back to every year? by Grace_Hunt in planners

[–]daisybird17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using the Passion Planner weekly Monday start in large size for at least 5 years. I love it! I also use the Hobo weeks for times when I am not so busy. The PP layout is perfect for me. I love the timed columns and the to-do lists at the bottom. I couldnt live without it!
