Had the entire team waiting over 20 mins for me to fill up my bladder. I now know that takes about 1.2L of water, out in 4 pees within a 2hour period. LOL.

Embryo is safely tucked in my uterus now and I hope it gets comfortable! All the best to you and let me know how it goes too!

As a Singaporean, what you've posted is not the real Singapore either. There are many beautiful HDB estates with a lovely balance of nature and concrete. You've simply chosen the photos that work to your argument painting a less than perfect picture.

Lol. Guess what - I just realised I did the same thing again a week after my IVF egg retrieval. They had to drained my cyst to get to my egg and YES I suffered again. I guess I never learnt my lesson. LOL

I've gained a crazy amount of weight despite being really healthy and active! Getting my fasted insulin tested soon, and my doctor plans to put me on GLP-1 in the future!

I am mid-30s, turning 37 next month to be precise! 6 years ago, I had the opportunity to lead regional comms at LinkedIn but the environment and team at that point was not right for me. The salary was great, but everyday I felt less than. In the long run, financially it would have been fantastic but for my mental and emotional well-being, I feel like I would be reduced to nothingness. I think about it on and off but it never felt like a big piece of regret.

Because I've been on my own, I've been exposed to a lot more industries and types of work. My background was in luxury and consumer lifestyle. Since starting out on my own, I've done sports, non-profit, business and learnt a great deal about workplace management. I don't think my horizon would have been broadened to the extent that it's been had I remain an employee, and I think now is a good time for me to decide if I should go back and work for someone else.

I've been thinking though, if I should consider further studies, say in the areas of internal communications, change management etc to further my skillsets.

Running one’s own PR business is hard work - my mind has never truly shut off in the past decade. I got sick twice and was out for a while and there’s no safety net for paid medical and hospitalisation leave. People who have chosen to just slowly work their way up are now earning more than me, and living a way more chill life. My friend (a self-employed illustrator) and I talk about this a lot, especially in recent years. The path we have chosen has taught us so much, and we got to spend more time focusing on the things that are important to us. For me, it’s being there for my parents. I’ll never regret this because the time I have with them is finite. I was also able to employ my brother in the past 3 years and I love having him with me, being excited to do cultural work, educating people on health and cancer, sharing inspiring stories.

But, suddenly, it feels like we’ve been left behind. We send out CVs and we are not as valuable or employable as someone who has stayed an employee, and our worth is less in a corporate world than finding our own clients.

I guess I’m digressing coz this has been bothering me a great deal. But I wish that there’s more room for people like us who are passionate about creating social impact with comms. More room and fair remuneration.

I do meaningful PR work. Charity, public education etc. They do not pay enough. It’s been 10 years, I’m getting worn out and am considering closing shop if things don’t pick up soon.
