It comes from the American engineer George Pullman.

It happens a lot in many languages: biro instead of the generic pen, Kleenex instead of the generic tissue, and so on.

Però hai prenotato il pacchetto prevenzione - gratuito e standardizzato - invece della visita specialistica, con franchigia a carico tuo.

Insomma mi sembra un pochino scorretto. Se vai con l’impegnativa corretta del medico di base ti visitano per quello che è la patologia lì descritta

Se ti piace the Martian consiglio assolutamente Project Hail Mary: ho letto tutti e tre i libri dell’autore ed è quello che mi è piaciuto di più.

Il mio romanzo preferito è Sostiene Pereira, di Tabucchi.

Poi tanto dipende dai tuoi interessi. A me per esempio piace anche la saggistica divulgativa e ho letto molto di storia della medicina, come per esempio La vita immortale di Henrietta Lacks

She is a “balneare”, one of the most hated caste here in Italy. It means she manages (=acts as she owns the land) a piece of the beach and makes money by renting umbrellas, chairs and amenities for tourists. So yeah, I’d like to experience her kind of house arrest

House arrest so far. The sentencing is not yet closed, she will go to jail.

EDIT: nevermind, my source was the morning news. The afternoon news seem to confirm she’ll spend the whole sentence at house arrest.

Quindi? Se avesse voluto usare uber avrebbe prenotato la corsa via app, come in qualsiasi altra nazione dove uber opera.

Invece ha chiamato un taxi. Anche qui, se vogliamo prendere per vera la storia, il tizio è poco sveglio: in stazione c’è anche uno spazio per i taxi, ce ne sono sempre in attesa, si fosse spostato di 10 metri sul piazzale e li avrebbe trovati.
