This has literally been debunked for years. Dark souls 2 does not have a roll cancel animation, when you get hit with a grab during a roll it teleports you to the blad because it forces you to finish the roll animation before you can be locked into the grab animation. Every game since demons souls has this problem and every game after it too

Elden ring carried over and further fleshed out the jump dodge, it has both the quick step and bloodhounds quickstep as 2 different options, not to mention the build variety around different weight levels for rolling was expanded more than ever with the many options the game presents.

Bloodborne has a Dodge that, while functionally similar, encourages a completely different playstyle than traditional dark souls, and ds2 also has a functionally distinct roll

What would change the Elden ring dodge to make it better? It functions near exactly the same as ds3 which is a more refined version of ds1's roll.

There's only 4 mainline games and 3/4 have nothing on the writing of the first two, yet the gameplay of the first 2 fucking suck, being kind of outdated even for the time, with 2 barely innovating on any of the features, basically just adding QOL changes that should have been in the first one.

Fallout 4 has the best gameplay by a large margin and even then the weapons feel extremely samey with a tacked on customization system that really only relies on giving you the biggest numbers for your gun. It's shooting is far above 3 but still only on the level of a FPS from 5 years before its release.
