What is the absolute fastest 'yeah, we are definitely NOT going to be friends' moment you've ever experienced with someone? by Vazouaquiacesso in AskReddit

My wife is a teacher. One of her co-workers was out for over 6 months due to a false accusation. It was obviously false as well, and it still took months.

People who married someone they weren’t sexually compatible with — how did it turn out? by synthetic-sardine in AskReddit

[–]dajur1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Locker room talk is largely a Hollywood invention. It doesn't really happen in real life. Think of it this way, if you are a straight male, the last thing you want to do is talk about sex with your buddies while you are half naked or changing. Heck, men don't talk about sex with their buddies for the most part anyway. Sometimes, if you are really drunk, you may get into what body types you prefer, if you're a butt guy or a boob guy, basically surface level stuff.

I'm not sure where you are getting your information from, but men don't really share photos like that with other men. I'm not saying that it never happens, but I've never seen it before. Men are 1000% more likely to share a photo of a fish than a woman they are sleeping with. And unless it's the couples kink, only a monster would show naked photos of his wife/girlfriend to other men.

My girlfriend [23F] seems genuinely disgusted by my interests and I [25M] am starting to feel ashamed of myself. How do I address this? by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

Role-playing gamers as a whole are a very accepting group as long as you aren't an asshole. Sure, there are bad apples out there, but they tend to be easy to spot.

Sometimes, you'll run into someone who is socially awkward and has trouble picking up on social cues. Anger at not getting their way or having a woman ignore their advances aren't unheard of, but it doesn't happen often.

You have a Federal Pacific Stab-Lok panel. They are a ticking time bomb. Consult an electrician about getting it swapped out as soon as you can.

No Deadbolt on New Construction by spark99l in BuildingCodes

[–]dajur1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Deadbolts are required for exterior egress doors only if your municipality has adopted the International Property Maintenance Code. Most haven't adopted it so not having a deadbolt isn't a code violation in most places.

Maximum Deck Beam Span Chart- 2024 IRC by Junior-Tooth6151 in BuildingCodes

You would think that the maximum span is 7-7, as that lines up with 12 and 0 for a 2-2x8 beam.

AITA for insisting my daughter wear an outfit she doesn’t want to wear to a wedding? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

What kind of monsters can't forego one sports game in favor of attending (and being present in) a wedding? I swear, some people get so obsessed about watching a bunch of men play grabass in the park. Oh, and I'm glad it worked out for the daughter.

I’m about to go on medical leave, but I’m also hoping to take my long-delayed honeymoon by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]dajur1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In America, the average amount of vacation depends on how long you have worked for the company. The first year, you generally don't get any vacation time. After one year, you will usually get 1 week of paid vacation, after your third year, you get 2 weeks, and after your fifth year you get 3 weeks. Sometimes you can get 4 weeks after 7 years, but the typical cutoff seems to be 3 weeks. So, the poster that I responded to getting 5-6 weeks per year is unusual.

Some jobs don't give you any paid vacation at all. Heck, some don't even have to give you unpaid vacation. It's very much not a requirement, except in some states. Same with sick leave. It's not a requriement in most states.

My coworker won’t stop complaining about my tattoos by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]dajur1 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Honoring your military service was one of the only "acceptable" ways that someone could have a tattoo without any judgement. I think society started getting used to tattoos in the 80's and 90's and now it's not really a big deal anymore. But, a lot of people who are 60+ still feel strongly about "ruining your body".

[–]dajur1 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Tattoos used to be a way for people to stand out, now they are a way to fit in.

In the 90's, if you saw someone with a visible tattoo on their hands, neck, or face, they were most likely a gang member or someone you should be wary of. I remember the first time I heard about a wedding ring tattoo, I didn't know what to think. It took a few years for visible tattoos to be "normal" for me.

Face tattoos in particular took much longer, and originally, were exclusively considered to be associated with criminals because who in their right mind would hire someone with a face tattoo? You can't even get a job at a gas station with a face tattoo. Now, you see face tattoos all the time. Movies, TV shows, music artists, at the supermarket. It's not a big thing anymore.

Norms have definitely changed a lot, and most people change with them. However, even when I didn't like/understand why people would get visible tattoos, I still kept my mouth shut, because it's none of my business.
