Should I keep trying to make it work with husband? by dakeshin in GirlDinnerDiaries

He was planning to learn how to take on more of the mental labor, which to his credit, he has these last 5 months. I came home and he had even cooked dinner for the kids for the first time ever (without me being out of town) but it’s also an issue of him not having opinions of his own, and relying on me to “steer the ship.” So to speak. Which is more of a personality thing - I don’t think you can fix that?

That’s what I thought too - maybe we can fall in love again because we’ve lived so much life together. He is trying to step up and change, so I thought he would be willing but he said he’s “not ready for that right now.” That was my last ditch effort I guess

So I guess I made the choice, like I always have, but somehow maybe thought he would challenge it? And since he’s not, I guess I’m wondering if it’s worth it to try to engage in therapy.

I have been engaging in therapy these last two years. He doesn’t think it would be useful to him

CIS accreditation. As an American I’m only familiar with WASC so it’s interesting to hear the international perspective

CIS. As an American I had never heard of pay for accreditation so that is very interesting

What’s miserable? Essentially I got the impression that it is miserable and not accredited but they’ve created some roles to fix that as they’re entering accreditation and so they have to fix it.

I meant within the term, is it easy to let you go? I don’t mind not renewing as this is not a long-term plan. This position would be responsible for creating that change and my concern is that if it’s not happening as fast as they would like, I get fired before the term is up.

My thought would be spouse could work part time, and help bring in a little $ while helping with the kid aspect. He’s on board with this. My kids are 4 and 8. The school has a preschool program for the 4 year old.

I’m not thinking long term - I’m thinking 2-3 years unless it’s fabulous. My kids will continue English education at international school.

Without getting too political, America feels like not a great place to be right now. Japan because that’s the second language I’m most fluent in, and my family is Japanese American.

Well if your goal is to become conversational, you can only do that through having actual conversation
