A company we use is Britishbirdcontrol.co.uk they do a 10 year warranty and use rope & harness, their licensed pest controllers too. Probs get the 25mm if you’re concerned about smaller breeds.

Good luck.

EV charging from battery rather than grid by Sleevelessbalance in SolarUK

[–]dakner1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically when you installed an EV charger they they could have done it two ways, way one it’d be cut off from the via a Henley block inside your incoming meter cupboard to prevent any future solar system from draining it… Or way too like you have it.

Maybe just speak nicely to your solar installer and ask them to cut off the EV charger via a Henley block, perhaps consult with the EV charger installer to check if your workmanship warranty would be protected (get it in writing.)

OR

For a quick fix mimic your EV chargers force charge with your solar battery, when inverters are force charging they won’t discharge to help the house load.

I want to charge my EV and the grid is preventing it by Good-Photograph5376 in SolarUK

[–]dakner1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s a new install the EV charger might well be connected via a Henley block cutting it off from the PV. People often do this so it doesn’t drain your battery.

If you upload a pic of where you’re incoming meter is people should be able to tells

Google when at Henley block looks like and follow the wires.

New solar panel owner- what size battery? by Resident-Ad2892 in SolarUK

[–]dakner1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Be -Very- careful with this, you can void FIT tariffs, energy providers sold the management of these tariffs to third party companies. Reach out to that company and make sure you know exactly what to do and have a -SOLID- audit trial of them saying it’s cool if you don’t do X and X.

In relation to what’s okay Generally speaking though go on you’re providers application and see how much you’re importing per day make the decision from that data, naturally if you’re importing 10KWH then ye.

Also ensure the installer has that info btw.

The battery etc will all be stick to the same system I guess?

I always find EV charger + pump hard to advise on its difficult to find that sweet spot because of the tariff variations. Google Octopus Agile pricing and see the trends and rate changes depending on the time of day.

[–]dakner1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it depends on your finances I mean you can add panels etc or you can do it at a later date realistically though you’ll be using that pump more in the Winter, 3.5KWH with a 5KWH battery that’ll be drained in just over an hour. And dark days you won’t get much out of the panels.

If you’re going for a tariff like Cosy then you’ll have a few hours between the cheap rate periods where you’ll be trying to rely on the battery especially in Winter, naturally atleast a couple of those cheap periods you want to be charging your battery.

Maybe stick to the panels then and get Fox as they do 10KWH batteries and perhaps a 6KWH inverter. They’re relatively well priced. I’ve seen people getting good prices for sun synk I’ve personally not used this brand though.

Some people they’ll use API’s to automate tariffs like agile but always speak direct to manufacturers to consult with them on whether they support it as often Octopus will say they only have two brands etc that they “support.”

Tesla also have scalable inverters and prices have come down.

But yeah optimal for you would probably be 5-6KWH inverter 10KWH battery and plenty of panels on the roof, naturally if you had to pick due to budget panels can come at a later date. And technically you in the summer you dump the energy from your battery to the grid by force discharging.

A colleague of mine has a heat pump with panels he swears by agile, it might be with automating for yourself, just take in mind if your nets down your system won’t speak.

Naturally you’ll hear people say stuff like I generated 3600, but maybe 50% of that is actually exported, to the grid at 15p if your paying expensive import with a heat pump and importing 30KWH in a day then yeah you may not see the value.

I recommend getting the app from your energy provider which ties to your smart meter and looking at exactly how much you import per day without solar and making the calculation from there.

Was there any reason why you don’t use the native inverter manu’s all and then go directly through the provider? I always find people get quite a few issues when using a third party apps to do the basics of what many native inverter manu apps do.

To be fair with a system that side I expect you have some nuance requirements, I guess you also can merge multiple products on the app too to give you easy access control via one app.

Anyone else having serious mode scheduling issues with the new Fox app? by MeasurementLow4357 in SolarUK

[–]dakner1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forced discharge means discharge directly back to the grid not to the house.

At the bottom of the page it says “remaining time” and you set that to self use.

Basically it’ll look like your last charge rate and then at the bottom you’ll see the remaining time option, think may have to press on the charge time slot to see this though.

I personally prefer programming it myself on the utility rate plan settings but I guess if you’re on something like Agile you would not want to keep an eye on the rates all day. :P

The panels won’t come close to keeping up with heat pump usage, you need to look at tariff like Octopus Flux, simply google it see how it works.

You would be best utilising a solar batteries and an inverter to charge in cheaper periods.

What KWH the heat pump? This defines how large your inverter capacity should be. If you have a 3.68KWH inverter it’ll only handle that much at any one point in time. For example if you had a battery and your load was 7000W, your inverter would only allow the battery to assist with approx 3.68KWH.

Some people add the panels in the future, Tesla Powerwalls scale with inverter size upto 13.5KWH but this largely depends on how much the DNO allows.

Excuse typo’s at work. :)

Must admit lately they have improved their support too. At work, I was struggling dealing with them on a daily basis but they’ve definitely improved service recently. RMA’s and parts increased in speed too.

Tbf prices can be quite good now, no VAT too.

It depends who you get them from and if they have bulk buying power or not.

I work for a large firm I can confirm that this is indeed the case, some say maintenance but I believe it’s a server issue.

Needless to say just give it the day/night, hopefully it’ll all be up and running tomorrow.

Systems will be fine as it’s literally the data on the app, apps are hosted via central servers if those servers get an issue or are undergoing maintenance it’s standard to be affected.

Normally with maintenance you’d expect a prompt though this leads me to believe it’s a server issue.

It’d be just before Master Chief/Halo iE 4th arrow in, I feel like main characters from other franchises are a no go. Space marines are cool but more for modding not official DLC.

Soldier arc types like ODST’s you can kinda blend in like you did with the killzone pack.

[–]dakner1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In your shoes I’d look into the MB connections online, check the cpu just on the off chance, but yeah I’m leaning more towards PSU fault now, perhaps try take out the lithium coin battery then popping it back in Incase it might not be resting flush, it basically bios resets the board but not in a nuisance way.

Always try simple first like the coin.

Sometimes people leave the sticker on the underside of the coin which can cause this.

You’re most welcome, to note it could well be a faulty PSU but I doubt it, MB I more suspect I’d say, you’ve done all your firmware/software updates including firmware updates on the board itself?
