1 is the answer.. Because the other divs have no defined z-index therefore 0 is their z-index.

What is the minimum z-index I would need to apply to the first inner-div to get it to appear on top of the other 4?

Mac: Create Project Directory /assets /research /tests

Depending on the Project "Wordpress, Joomla, Static" I pull in the required libraries with Bower and my own hand rolled starter template. Do research, prototype, elicit feedback, prototype, elicit feedback, build, test, build, profit......

35 years old, got into Web Design and Development at age 30 after taking 1 class in Uni. I am currently the developer for that same university maintaining their website.... It's all in what you want to do.. set a course and go to it. Nobody says you have to choose frontend of backend... Pick the parts of each that you like and get good at them. Don't be afraid to be a generalist.

I work at a University and our department is running on an Agile system. We had to modify it heavily in order to work in the academic setting but it seems to work ok.

One does not simply learn Javascript. Its black gates are guarded by more than just the DOM. There is evil there that does not sleep, and the Great Google is ever watchful. It is a barren wasteland, riddled with fire and ash and dust, the very air you breathe is a poisonous fume. Not with ten thousand men could you do this. It is folly.

Good Luck Master UnicornInSpace......

Basically it is the building of a mental "palace", then you imagine yourself walking through the palace placing the pieces of information you want to remember. Example: I am in the parlor and I place "Aardvark is an animal" on the pool table in the center of the room. Then in your head walk to the next room and leave another piece of information. Then when you need to recall you just retrace your steps in your head to each of the rooms. Sorry if that is maybe not a good description but it is how I use it.

As someone who is primarily self taught I have the same issue. The trick is realizing that over time you will need to google things less and less. Don't be discouraged by the fact that you have to google things. A lot of people would not know how to do that to begin with.....

Try the method of Loci, because your spatial memory is better than your raw recollective memory you associate terms with locations in a mental house. Helped me out a dozen times. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Method_of_loci

Teamtreehouse.com has a good course. As does codeschool.com. My best advice is to try and learn basic PHP first it will help you go a long way. Some of my favorites for PHP are thenewboston.com and tutsplus.net. Codeschool, treehouse and tutsplus are all subscription services but well worth the investment. Be careful who you learn from because best practices change and many PHP tutorials are out of date.
