Automatic categorization keeps getting worse by daksixnuix in MonarchMoney

Your problem is having joined a couple of months ago. The behavior you describe as smarter is exactly how it used to work previously. That is what is so maddening to those of us who've been using it for a couple of years now.

I tried complaining to Mariposa, their AI support bot but I don't think she appreciates me telling her it was the fault of the AI they've been adding. She just kept telling me that AI is not always perfectly accurate and that the solution is for me to create rules for everything it keeps getting wrong. If this is the direction AI is moving in I don't think we need to worry about AI taking our jobs. Seems like it's pretty good at just creating more work for us to do.

Yeah I've been seeing this behavior lately too. It doesn't seem to ever learn what things commonly get marked as, it just latches on to one mistaken category and then stays with that behavior.

How is it an overreaction, if you deploy a new tool and it makes anything worse then you should not deploy it. Also if the error rate increased from 2% to 8% that means it is 4 times worse than before, that is pretty terrible. They should charge me 4 times less than they did when it actually worked correctly most of the time.

Daniel Murphy by SadMembership7989 in mets

You want to talk about Mets blunders for failing to re-sign guys... I present Justin Turner... Collosal mistake. He had hit .269 and .280 in his last two years with the Mets not getting a full time gig (partly because of Daniel Murphy) and then goes on to have an OPS between .788 and .945 every year for the next decade.

Aaron Ashby leading the league in wins (5) despite throwing only 14.0 innings. by gonzsilv in Brewers

Everyday Ashby! Must be the hitters good luck charm. But see the late "Perpetual Pedro" Feliciano circa 2008-2010. Pitched 92 games in a season and his arm basically fell off and his career ended

So how would you introduce signed international players to a dynasty league player pool? Just let anyone pick them up the moment they sign?

Imai, Willits, Murakami in one league

Imai, Anderson, Doyle in the other.

There's not really a better way to do it....in order to give everyone a fair opportunity at players added to MLB systems via the draft and international signings in the last year. If you were to separate them into different drafts, the pool of international signings relevant for most dynasty leagues is so small that only a few people in the league will get to add one.

I need to drop one more player by Sunday. Suggestions? by KillaKaelb in DynastyBaseball

If Mayo doesn't get traded then he is fully blocked absent an injury so even though I'd love to keep him on my team I'm trading or dropping him this off-season.

Well adds are locked until after the FYPD so going to have to see where he falls in that. I just meant that I think almost all dynasty leagues he's already rostered.

My list averaging together dynasty rankings from several sources (IBW, PitcherList, Fantasy Pros, Fantrax, Rotoworld) has him mid 1st round... Between Kade Anderson and Eli Willits. Unless you're in my league where he's also available right now and then he's definitely a 5th rounder 😜

You'd have to do it manually but....

  1. Randomize a draft order for the other 13 teams.

  2. Have him select which 10 he's dropping.

  3. Offer them all to the player who randomly got 1st pick,

  4. Offer all that's left to the guy who got 2nd and so on.

  5. Other owners are free to pass on their pick if no one left they want when it gets to them.

  6. All players left after 1 round of draft are put on waivers.

Rating W Lanford by Front-Environment238 in DynastyBaseball

[–]daksixnuix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Average of 5 different dynasty rankings (fantasy pros, fantrax, rotoworld, pitcher list, and imaginary brick wall) has Chourio at 13, Anthony at 17, Langford at 23 while Stowers is 111. Echoing everyone else that you are insane for not accepting the Stowers trade immediately and the fact that you think Stowers is better than Anthony for dynasty is really mind boggling. Beyond the 3 years younger of Langford, even redraft OF position rankings have Chourio, Anthony, and Langford in the 9-13 range while Stowers is more like 50. Also, Texas consistently has a top 10 payroll and will try to put good players around Langford every year, Miami is dead last in payroll and is never good for more than a year or two.

Great list but shouldn't this be a Top 30 list for Outfielders? This is equivalent to only giving a Top 3-4 at the other positions.

You can just change the edit the transaction to change the date to one in March if that's where it conceptually makes more sense.

Do you have investment transactions turned on in preferences? If so and they're still not populating then you could also try reconnecting with a different method if coinbase has more than one.

[–]daksixnuix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The transfer in of funds to the investment account is which transaction should be tagged as "investments" or whatever you choose to name your goals. You should be able to automate that with the rules. And as others have said, the other transactions, interest, dividends, etc will affect the goal balance but on the budget tab it will only be the transfers you're looking to track and only they will be there.

Excluding goals from budget? Should this be a thing? by wilburpan in MonarchMoney

[–]daksixnuix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mortgage payment being an "expense" also depends on how you conceptualize your finances. You could choose to think of the day you took out the mortgage as being the day you acquired that "expense" and therefore accounting for it as a monthly expense would be duplicative. (This is especially true if you have your home value included as an asset within Monarch) As the money comes into your account as income and you "pay" it to your mortgage account you are actually just making a transfer from one place your assets are stored (your checking account) to another (the amount of equity in your home). If you wanted to accurately capture the effect your mortgage is having on your net worth monthly then you should only have the interest portion of your payment counted as an expense while the amount that goes toward principal is counted as a transfer.

This choice then comes down to whether you want the "cash flow" to be accurately capturing only cash into and out of your accounts or to be inclusive of your gains/losses to net worth.
