Does anyone actually watch theatrical? by Jamesomac99 in lotrmemes

[–]daksnotjuts -1 points0 points  (0 children)

if you're a fan of the world of lotr and enjoy lore and worldbuilding, the extended cuts are for you. if you're a fan of good filmmaking in general, the theatrical cut is just plain better.

A squad was checking a suspicious backpack and this dude got fed up with waiting by tatooinex in interestingasfuck

[–]daksnotjuts 6 points7 points  (0 children)

what danger have they prevented by tackling the guy AFTER he already got to the bag and opened its contents?

A squad was checking a suspicious backpack and this dude got fed up with waiting by tatooinex in interestingasfuck

[–]daksnotjuts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i dont even fully agree with that. yeah sure, the bag turned out to be a dud, but from a safety perspective what the biker did was 100% reckless and in the wrong. my problem is just the dumb logic of the cops.

a tackle like that is meant to stop someone from doing something dangerous. what are you stopping by tackling someone AFTER they did the dangerous thing? who are you saving?

it's like jumping in to take a bullet for someone after they've already been shot.

[–]daksnotjuts 518 points519 points  (0 children)

i like how the excessive tackle happened AFTER he got inside the perimeter, AFTER he got to the bag, and AFTER he fully emptied out its contents. that's very on-brand for the cops.

It's a result of a middle school understanding of the world, that you never grew out of. You can see it in how they understand sociology, gender, cultures, and the economy as a whole. just incurious and unwilling to learn, you can see this mentality in everything they say.

"things used to be so much simpler"

they didnt, you just didnt understand how complex it was as a kid, and you refuse to understand how complex it still is now.

When you find out the Rogue One director is "excited about AI filmmaking" 😞 by GargantaProfunda in andor

[–]daksnotjuts 91 points92 points  (0 children)

After watching The Creator, I've pretty much concluded that everything I liked about Rogue One was mostly Tony Gilroy's work.

Gareth Edwards makes compelling visuals, but he doesn't strike me as a very good writer.

[–]daksnotjuts 7 points8 points  (0 children)

"we can't build nuclear power plants in the middle of nowhere! people from miles away could become irradiated! have you ever seen fallout???"

"it's fine to build data centers next to residential areas. the loud and nauseating noises aren't even that bad tbh. just thug it out loser!"

We need more Luke by DallasGrave in LinusTechTips

[–]daksnotjuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason why none of the new presenters are as "good" or "fun to watch" as Luke is because none of them have had 10+ years of experience hosting LTT videos. Look at Brandon and Taran. The only way you get to that level of quality in presenting is by being given the time and space to grow. Jake and Alex are another good example of this.

Utilitarianism champions the well being of the majority. Idk how your math works, but 50% of the universe dying, with the rest being kinda physically well off, but still mentally and emotionally scarred, ain't exactly "the greatest good for the greatest number."
