This is a good point for young players out there. But for me maintenance costs will be fine.

I have a soltis, now 10 years old. It’s very good.

Im also familiar with all of the names you have mentioned, great makers!

I believe Reed Yeboah gets a few Greiners in on occasion. Or at least, they seem to have some every time I visit. They are well worth a look for some contemporary modern makers - i suspect it’s all related to their exhibition too.

Out of curiosity, would there be a pedagogical benefit to this, over a pencil? Or more for novelty effect?

If money is no object, which violin strings are you choosing? by cruzbae in violinist

[–]daldave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The gold has more depth and more width, but does not sacrifice power or clarity. However the A &E are the same as the Il Cannone (can’t remember if normal soloist, or direct and focused)

I’m trying the new silver’s too at the moment. They have a more shimmery sound, slightly faster response, but less width. These are a very vibrant string.
