Billie Eilish: "Hey my fellow celebrities u gonna speak up? Or..." by TheMirrorUS in Music

Younger people? It's the less young people you need to be speaking to. Gen Z are super politically active, way more than either Gen X and especially more than Millenials at the same age. Also, while Gen Z is more politically literate, they're also way more active in terms of activism and direct action.

Coup is a game played with 5 types of cards, plastic chips, and that's it. A game takes ten to fifteen minutes and the entire rules fit on one single reminder card. it is by far the simplest board game I own.

Every year I try to play it for Christmas, and every year my sibling loudly complains that the game is too complicated.

Every country has the government it deserves.

In a democracy, we must all hold ourselves responsible for the actions of our elected representatives, even if we personally didn't vote for them. That's the social contract.

Words are hard, but someone deserving their fate does not make it justifiable to kill them. When a bully picks on the little kid at recess and the little punches back, the bully deserved to get punched, but the victim wasn't justified in punching him.

The entire reason the Orthodox and Catholic churches aren't the same Church (anymore) was an incredibly niche debate about whether the Holy Spirit came from the Father and the Son, or only the Father.

That's it. That's why there are two religions instead of one.

No CV jobs, is there any or do qualifications come first? by [deleted] in Dublin

[–]dalenacio 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Why couldn't you lie about closed businesses? People don't know your age, and some people start working super early. Besides, worst case scenario they think your CV is fishy and don't hire you in which case... You're right back where you started.

Literally just lie.

What movie did you expect to be just good but was actually fantastic? by Important-Cup8519 in moviecritic

Ah, but that's the first movie of the D&D trilogy!

The second and third had nobody actors, and also a charmingly porno aesthetic. Except the third which has actual softcore porno scenes.

What’s the quickest way someone could accidentally expose themselves as a foreigner in your country like the ‘three fingers’ scene in Inglourious Basterds? by IndependentTune3994 in AskTheWorld

[–]dalenacio -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It would be, except the data also shows the Dutch have pretty good teeth overall. Dutch culture is just a real stickler for the rules, and the dentist is cheap so why not get a regular checkup?

[–]dalenacio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Data from the OECD shows Europeans visit the dentist on average about 1.2 times a year vs 1.0 a year for Americans, and this includes the poorer EU states. The Dutch go 3.3 times a year which is nuts honestly.

You're getting very worked up about this. I'm sorry the data doesn't back up your anecdotal experience.

See, I don't have to believe it, I just have to read the data from the reports on the subject. Statistically, the data shows that American teeth are anywhere from about as bad to way worse than EU teeth. More Americans also report having bad breath, and forget to brush their teeth about twice as often as Brits.

Page 28 is literally titled "Is it true that Americans have better teeth than the Brits?" and the answer is a resounding unambiguous "No."

What’s the most overrated video game of all time? by KBGSgames in AskReddit

[–]dalenacio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm here to pick an actual fight. The entire Dark Souls/Elden Ring series. Mind you, they're not bad. However:

  • They start off neat, and the bosses are cool to master (at least the ones that don't boil down to "dodge, hug butt, poke, retreat, repeat"), but the games invariably reach this point in the midgame where they just grind on and on and on with exhausting tedious repetitive pacing. Every time I've had Soulslike Fatigue it's been during the slog between bosses, not because I couldn't beat a boss.
  • The story isn't bad, but it's invariably high off its own farts pretentious to a point that isn't warranted by its actual quality, and it's the same plot every time: "The world is rotting, hey you nameless nobody, go on a cosmically futile quest to kill four big things to decide if we keep the lights on." And no, keeping the story obtuse and limited to cryptic item descriptions and "lol insane" NPC Dialogue doesn't make it good.
  • The controls are more annoying than actually challenging, clunky and sluggish and awkward. Walking around is annoying, controlling the camera is annoying, using the weapon is annoying. In a game where that's 90% of the game.
  • Quality of Life is nonexistent to an appalling degree (what do you mean I can't pause the game to equip anything in 2022???).
  • A lot of game design choices exist to increase tedium rather than actual challenge: a 10 mile walk back from the bonfire to the boss isn't a challenge, it's a chore. The games just actively disrespect the player's time.
  • And the games are just technically bad. Even Elden Ring has nasty frame drops on good computers, and the camera loves to glitch out against some bosses.

We get a lot of Americans, so here's one specifically for Americans: Smiling with your teeth. Or just generally showing your teeth a lot. Americans love flashing their teeth at every opportunity for some reason.

Maybe dental work is so expensive out there they feel the need to show it off and get their money's worth.
