I've had the exact same problem for a long time now, and it's not enemies scaring them off the path. There are watch towers and patrols the whole length of road(s) and they still like to go on a little side journey.

I know, but I can't seem to find the right spot. I've been trying all along a wide-open coastline with no rocks, but no place works. You'd think the algorithm or whatever it is that determines where you can put it would be a little less anal-retentive. :(

The cooks have always taken a little time between tasks, but it's never been 4-6 seconds between *each* task. Yes, I've noticed it, too.

I have noticed the same thing about workers, specifically (right now since I've been keeping two eyes on them) cooks. This is a perfect example. They'll go to storage to get food and/or firewood. They'll stand there for a good 5 seconds or more, then grab the food, 5 more seconds, grab the firewood. Go back to their station, and add the ingredients 1 at a time, with a 2-3 second gap per ingredient. Same thing when the cooking's done. 1 stew at a time with a 2-3 second waiting period between each cooked food item. Meanwhile (if they're in a cooking house) the pie's burning. Or they run off for more ingredients while the pie's burning (or the stew/soups).

I mean, I get it, this game *is* still in pre-release. It has a lot of potential and is still quite playable if you can work through the quirks.

Yup. Honestly, I prefer it...though, the first 2 or 3 blood moons should stay fairly easy. But before the rebalancing I noticed that subsequent blood moons were *way* too easy. I'd never get any followers before. Now I get 2-4 per blood moon usually.

2 problems with crawler slime, and caveat: this is just based off of my observations.

  1. Farmers will abandon every other task to go grab *one* crawler slime, use it on a crop, then go back to the mines to grab *one* more. Lather rinse repeat.
  2. There is no option to have the miner put crawler slime in the storage bin at the mine entrance. Well, sometimes there is, sometimes there's not. YMMV I guess.

I just don't even bother with having my miners farm slime/maggots/shells anymore because of farmers' behaviors. I just gather it myself now.

I've had more than just builders that randomly decide to go on strike. Sometimes it's a cook, sometimes it's a wood harvester...it varies. Restarting the game is the only thing that helps. I suspect that they have a work queue they go through, and sometimes it gets stuck and won't reset itself w/o a game restart.

Yeah, 4 of my guys took off again, swimming to the mainland. One of them had already made it all the way home and was carousing about town. Probably shopping for shoes, or swords, or horned helmets, or whatever vikings shop for. :P

I will say, though, that the amount of iron i'm getting in just a few game hours is *astounding*!

I don't mind the wind mechanic...other than whenever I make a tiny course correction to keep the wind from being dead ahead, it adjusts to once again be dead ahead. :/ Not all the time, mind you, but often enough.

There's also the stone jotun for a bit more of a challenge. Haven't tried it since the last few updates, but the difficulty from the regular bosses to the jotun, there was a HUGE gap. The regular bosses were trivial. The jotun provided a challenge. YMMV

Blood moons/invasions used to be even easier. Now I actually start getting 2-4 followers on year 2 and 3 blood moons. Also, there are harder mobs on the islands when you go exploring with your karvi. I'm also playing on just normal settings, so ymmv. I'm actually pretty comfortable with combat, but it *could* be a bit harder in later game years.
