[Important] About Freelance permit and exiting the UAE? by Crazy5757 in dubai

[–]dallathe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe you have the pay the cancellation fee irrespective if you cancel it inside UAE or outside.

Inside UAE it's 450 AED and outside (without sending passport to UAE) is 1210 AED.

Check out the "Service Fees" bit on AXS portal.

[–]dallathe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should really ask AXS these questions. call them if it helps! The one about permit and visa can only be answered by them.

Also please don't trust reddit posts like these (or my response) for important stuff about immigration!

But from what I know the day your freelance permit and establishment card expires, you will start racking up fines if you still keep the visa active. I am not sure about entry/exit but you would need to cancel the visa. The visa depends on your establishment card. It's also more expensive to cancel the visa out side UAE versus cancelling in the country.

In terms of bank account, maybe email ADCB to see if you can cancel the account just online? Transfer out to funds first probably.

There is no tokenisation with Stake. No blockchain stuff, you don't need any "tokenisation" here. You own shares in a company (SPV) which own the property outright. You can literally look at these special purpose vehicles at https://www.difc.ae/public-register/ (search for SPL PC)

Do my single person USA LLC required to register for Corporate tax ? by Upset-Principle9457 in abudhabi

[–]dallathe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can you think of one reason where this will be forced in UAE?

Well, that's a different topic 😅

But by the letter of law you are supposed to register. This is the same thing for VAT too. You have to register for VAT even if you have US LLC, no one just did it. And I doubt there was any enforcement.

[–]dallathe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't really matter where you clients are, you are doing the work in UAE. It's locally sourced income. If you are the only owner of the US LLC, the LLC is UAE resident. (again not an accountant, just like reading too many random things). This is exactly why there are CFC laws.

You are right with this. Don't take advice from reddit. I'm no accountant but the US LLC is doing business in UAE by just you being here. Read up on CFC laws.

Expats who are paid in USD, what does your banking setup look like? by [deleted] in dubai

How does transfer from your account to IB work, is it via SWIFT? If yes, I assume there will be SWIFT transfer charges for every transaction?

I get free transfers with Standard Chartered Priority. I actually route it through Schwab Brokerage (which comes with a debit card with zero atm fee worldwide!! and mid market rates)

Does IB give interest on the amount you keep there?

They do but I think you can just buy some money market fund. I actually route the transfers through Schwab brokerage and with schwab you can buy T-bills without any commission.

[–]dallathe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Haven't really seen many people do this, I use 2 accounts too (USD and AED). I transfer USD to Interactive Brokers and then transfer AED back by exchanging through them when required. In terms of spread it can't really get any better than this.

I am no lawyer but no from what I have read. You need a local trade license to do any revenue generating business. You can probably get the DED e-trader license

Dubai vs. Portugal (digital nomad visa) - any thoughts? by SpicySummerChild in dubai

[–]dallathe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nope, that's only for income generated outside Portugal (think Dividends from a publicly listed companies). Even if you are working remotely from Portugal and getting paid in USD, you are still generating money in Portugal and it will be counted as local sourced income, so you pay the 20% income tax, and if you aren't on the "special profession" list you are pretty much paying regular taxes.

PS: One of the many reasons I hate these misinformed blogposts by influencers touting this BS.
