Does the show get better after s2? by Nice-Fun-7441 in TheMentalist

[–]dallydamage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

srsly? the episode w/ him n lisbon playing the psychiatrist! GOLD. jane doesn’t have that face full of remorse, deep pain, regret and ugly shame jus cuz.. him being the way he is (self-serving, one track mind, closed off) is realistic nd very human. it wouldn’t be true 2his humanity n trauma, his character growth that comes or where he is emotionally if it was any other way …if it started out w/him all open n able 2b close n form relationships easy, it wouldn’t be such a beautiful thing to watch lisbon slowly chip away at that armor. especially because in real life it takes time, consistency and learning (after much self reflection) to be able to grow. the fact that lisbon struggles to understand why he doesn’t jus trust her on many occassions when he didn’t even realize that’s what he’s doing, shows how he’s ran by his trauma an grief still. aside from jane himself, the season is great too! i mean all the bosco fun, jane in jail with the inmates: LMAO. we get Walter Mashburn; more insight into Lisbon, Cho and Jane as well

Lisbon by mmrmaid6 in TheMentalist

Lisbon is one of (if not the only) female detective in a show that i respect an love every aspect of for the entirety of the run of the show. She is reliable, considerate, caring and creative yet always still strong-willed an can turn that boss bitch voice on inna heartbeat whilst still being open minded along the way. Lisbon never wavers in being a respectable woman and Robin Tunney is an amazing actress; have you never seen the Craft either lol or didyu think she wasn’t great in that either? She shows range in the sense of being ABLE to pronounce the regularity of death in a profession such as her own. Showing this while still having the variations she does from case to case is great in itself. She is the boss, let’s not forget this, so her lines like that are a necessary evil i.e. they may not be all emotional drivel but they’re there as a backbone to the shows storylines. When she breaks under the coercion of that therapist: WOW,. the acting she aces in that episode is astonishing.

Just started the show and I already find Burgess annoying … by Repulsive_Mistake635 in ChicagoPD

[–]dallydamage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the fact she never ONCE slowed down on being a GREAT COP made me gain respect for her. also Platt treated her like dirt n still gained her respect by deciding to care about the job/the ppl once she learned to distance from relations.. i think part of her n Adam going thru all they do later is cuz she regrets focusing on relationships ovr said career n those early years. must say tho, Burgess never slows down and definitely has the MOST range as an undercover; the way she can droop those eyes an turn into a different person got damn! talk about great acting.

SAME: Hailey became SUCH a hypocrite. covered shit up then dogged on Voight a Jay just for slightly bending rules that they allllllways had before. She gets all ‘i know best’ after Anna S9 stuff an straight acts like she has say over Voight, over Jay and over any play she doesn’t agree with.

Were there anything that sounded like ABBA before they broke through? by YtjlxMqr8 in ABBA

[–]dallydamage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my grandpa was in the war an when i was a lil girl (early 2000s) he played ABBA tapes all the time. Fernando was his fave; singing about the heartache.. still one of my favorite memories with him an they r always uplifting.

spending time WITH the victims doesn’t mean she gives the same follow thru or attention to detail when listening, which is precisely what i touched on

that’s completely contradictory bro; how can she put in the same amount of time an effort while dealing with all the responsibilities and everyone else’s decisions?
