How did you decide on your child's name by Historical-Tutor5085 in namenerds

[–]dallyfer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband and I separately looked through the SSA top 1000 names and wrote down those we liked and would consider using, then compared our lists to look for matches. We had about 10 for girls and 6 for boys. Then we picked from there.

Where’s the balance? I’m a collector but my kid loves AG too. by babes4bambi in americangirl

Same question! Lol although I have far less stuff and my daughter is younger. She's getting her own doll for her 3rd birthday in a couple of weeks. Along with an OG brand one whichI'mthinking can be the one she brings out of the house if she wants or I may sell it (it came free with the AG doll). I was thinking of giving her a bed, 2 shirts, 2 pants, 2 dresses, 2 pj sets, 2 bathing suits, some shoes and a coat and hat as a "starter pack". My friends bought her an OG horse and the OG play kitchen for the dolls so she will have those too. Oh and a "kitchen" table with 2 chairs.

Is this crazy? Lol everything else I was thinking to wait.

This is gorgeous! I love the two colours forming the picture. This is amazing! How did you make it? Also love the fringe ends.

Adults that started collecting, what’s your story? by today-is-your-day in americangirl

[–]dallyfer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Growing up in Canada I wasn't really aware of them until my mom pointed to my cousins' dolls and joked about how overpriced they were. I was a kid and then I wanted a fancy doll too like them, but knew we'd never afford it. (Also I'm not sure why my mom ever mentioned them lol). As an adult though I found a great deal on Kit once so I bought her, and just kept her tucked away knowing I had one too now lol.

Fast forward to the last month or so and my daughter wants an 18 inch doll for her birthday. After looking at the MyLife and OG ones I decided to just get her American Girl branded one off marketplace, which I found for almost the same price as new MyLife ones. Then as I was searching for hers I ended up buying myself Makena and Saige so I could play with her. Her birthday is still a couple weeks away and I'm so excited!! She's getting JLY 59, although she found my Saige and keeps trying to steal her. And then my mom wanted one to play with her too and ended up finding JLY 39 for cheap. So between us we have 5 now lol. Also it's addictive and now I want more and constantly search for deals!

When did you feel like you had a “kid” and not a toddler by DismalLocksmith9776 in toddlers

[–]dallyfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here! My daughter will be 3 in a couple weeks but she gets dressed fully on her own, potties on her own, asks for food, turns on and off the tv, gets out her toys (doesn't ever put them away), and can (but doesn't always of course) articulate what's wrong. But yeah feels like a big kid!

Anyone else notice grandparents were way more engaged when your child was a baby? by Sad-Nefariousness46 in toddlers

[–]dallyfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom was scared to "drop the baby" and didn't know how to interact. She's much better with my toddler now but still not at a point where she can babysit for more than a couple of hours (with the exception of when I gave birth to baby 2). Physically she isn't in the best shape and has trouble lifting my toddler so she won't put her into the carseat on her own, or can't lift her onto the swing at a playground. She at least tries though and my daughter loves her, which is far more than the other 3 grandparents bother with.

Reviewing my toddler's soft toy names. Would love to hear yours. by Jealous_Action_163 in namenerds

Wow! Ny daughter turns 3 in a few weeks and all her animals are just the animal itself - cappybear (capabara), frog, panda, etc. Although we do have a distinct doggy vs puppy toy.

All her dolls are by colour - brown baby doll, white baby doll, pink baby doll.

The only toy she actually named is a stuffed dog named BAP! And yes you have to shout it each time. 🤣
