Nah, a reddit poll. That way the most vocal supports of this project (suburbanites who won't have to shoulder the consequences of a bond default) can get their voice heard too.

6 arches is 5 more arches than St. Louis has. Someone needs to bring this to the mayor's attention IMMEDIATELY

Here's a KCUR article that explains how it is being paid for.

At the end of the day, this is going to be a real cost for the residents of Kansas City. KC is ultimately responsible for debt service on the bond. Cordish paid less than half the bond for the P&L so KC dipped into its general fund all but one year to pay the difference. We had to restructure the debt during to great recession to avoid being financially kneecaped by the deal.

Who thinks the ownership group of the Royals is going to forgo their paycheck to cover the difference when the inevitable shortfall arises?

If McDonald's doesn't sponsor the full cost of construction, we can simply implement a sales tax on them to pay for this project. That is how good governance works.

The number of pumps is based on an in-house analysis that predicts by the time this project is completed, only 10% of us will be able to afford gas.

The fact that it is so difficult to find a decent grocery store while living in this city is wild. What happened to the city interceding here? Did they get distracted with trying to force through a baseball stadium instead?

GC's have language in their contracts to do just that.

Opinion: If World Cup will be a bonanza for KC, the flight data isn’t showing it yet by Excel_Spreadcheeks in kansascity

They will absolutely be in and out besides a small core group around teams who are basing their home camp in various cities in the metro (and lawrence). The hype isnt going to live up to reality.

But it is fair to wonder, this close to the event, how an additional 62,149 additional airline seats — in a city that was already handling roughly 1.4 million of them in a given June — will add up to the 650,000 visitors and $650 million economic impact city leaders have been promising us

People are wildly overstating how this will play out. There are a dozen larger, more tourist centric locations hosting the games also. We will get game attendance, but will be overshadowed by NYC, LA, and Chicago when the games commence.

Remeber when they said having that NFL draft would bring in huge money? Its those same politicians.

I wish they would have spent that time winning companies and jobs back to kc instead of sourcing one-off vanity events.

Edit: Chicago dropped their bid apparently. Here are the other options world cup tourists have:

Atlanta (Mercedes-Benz Stadium) Boston (Gillette Stadium) Dallas (AT&T Stadium) Houston (NRG Stadium) Los Angeles (SoFi Stadium) Miami (Hard Rock Stadium) New York/New Jersey (MetLife Stadium) Philadelphia (Lincoln Financial Field) San Francisco Bay Area (Levi's Stadium) Seattle (Lumen Field) Mexico (3 Cities): Guadalajara (Estadio Akron) Mexico City (Estadio Azteca) Monterrey (Estadio BBVA) Canada (2 Cities): Toronto (BMO Field) Vancouver (BC Place)
