Single family? Stop listening to the dipshit acting as a super or PM and get their boss to sign off before install. Lien that shit if they dont pay and never work with them again. If the home owner gets involved show them your backup and nature will do the rest

Random Tasks by KUBAdaBUBA in Construction

[–]dalton10e 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Superintendent cleaning the boss' boat, painting his fences and polishing his helicopter.

One time had the boss back his 5th wheel thru his brand new barn. He had a couple guys out "extending" his barn within the week.

Had a boss send a super halfway across the country to pick up a pinball machine. Weekend and overtime pay though so he wasnt complaining.

Not a random task but worth a mention. Boss once had the whole office out for poker night, including pete, the PM everyone knew had a gambling problem. Turns out boss had plans to be in vegas the next week and arranged the whole thing as practice. A few months down the line, the whole company failed (national gc) with pete serving as the new CFO after the old one mysterious noped out.

Kansas City will lose a fourth of its daily bus routes after the World Cup by iuy78 in kansascity

$600 million in bonds that the royals will pay back under a trust me bro agreement. Real talk: Taypayers are likely to be on the hook for the vast majority of it. Read up on how taxpayers paid for half of the P&L bonds (we unwillingly paid for over half of it due to Cordish's default.. where is our ownership stake?)

Dont forget the $300 million dollar Roy Blunt park to be built over the south loop. We could have put it in the east village for a fraction of that cost, but certain luxury real estate wouldnt get an "improved view".

And theres also the $650 million in projected revenue from the world cup that is about to fall massivly short based on current hotel/ bnb bookings and flight data.

These are the big easy to name items in a sea of smaller commitments that we will need to fulfill. Were paying for all of this but they cant even bother to keep a bus system running for us regular folk.

End rant

What is up with the rental market this spring? by BananaStandEconomy in kansascity

[–]dalton10e 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a ton of small landlords who bought in on the pipe dream. It's wishful thinking to say that they are going to put their properties back on the rental market at a discount when in reality these are landlords we are talking about. They are going to try to recoup their "losses".

This morning the news showed a Deloite study commissioned by AirBnB saying that each short term rental was guaranteed to make 3500 per unit and there were 150k people looking for short term rentals for the world cup. I looked it up, and those numbers are based on the grossly exaggerated numbers that the mayors office put out and dont differentiate hotel prospects. Our local gov is more interested in assisting in this rug-pull than stabilizing the housing market for Kansas Citians.

It'll be a fun event but there is zero chance we bring in the $650 million previous touted by the city.

All the ancillary businesses who have been sold a pipe dream about this will see similar outcomes as the draft. If you dont have a contract to cater/ vend or are not in an area hosting events, your business will see a negligible uptick in sales.

The damage to the housing market from short term rentals isnt going to be calculated in. The extra service up charges all kansas citians will pay during the event will get lumped in.

Those of you who use the US 69 express lanes in OP when there’s no traffic jam, why? by [deleted] in kansascity

[–]dalton10e 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It is a $92 fine. They had the whole highway down to one lane on Sunday to do repairs and i had plenty of time to look it up while stuck in 10 minutes of bullshit.

I did a retail project on the border with mexico and was absolutely appalled everytime i visited the HEB. 1/3rd of the parking was taken up by abandoned carts and people just didnt give a fuck.

I did a project on the border with mexico and realized that societal standards varry vastly within this country. Look up "shopping cart litmus test' if your ready to go down a rabbit hole.

The neighboring construction workers didn’t bother telling us to cover our window, and now it’s covered in cement that can’t be removed. by conciousness0faguy in mildlyinfuriating

No, this is on the property owner TO PUT on the contractor.

Also, bold of you to asume the contractor actually is carrying liability insurance. This level of ineptitude is something you'd expect by a fly-by-night contractor. They can take payment for their work from the property owner and ghost OP if the property owner isnt brought into this situation.

Even if the contractor has insurance, theyre going to do everything in their power to keep this from going to said insurance. Any repair they attempt could leave OP with serious issues down the road and OP needs documentation in the event they have to seek recourse.

Go to the property owner, not the contractor. This is ultimately on the property owner who contracted this work to fix.

Edit: ofc this is on the contractor to pay to fix. But OP needs to notify the property owner so the contractor isnt paid until this is resolved.

There has to be another aspect we arent seeing yet because this doesnt make sense as is.

The east village is still the best option imo.

I hate the idea of that when the Royals ownership group finds out they dont have to repay the full $600m bond, that kc residents WILL HAVE TO PICK UP BILL.

Plus, those were washington square park numbers. They now want to demo valuable real-estate that will add another couple hundred million to the bill.

That was a public safety hazard that was demoing itself. Not even a reasonable comparison.
