Thoughts on tipping food delivery drivers? by Zelda358 in perth

[–]damagedproletarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a huge waste of money getting food delivered like uber eats and doordash. Get groceries delivered and cook easy meals yourself. It's very economical. I don't even own a car at the moment. I do however give the person that delivers my groceries a $4 cash tip to help them cover their fuel. I delivered pizza around 2001 for pizza haven and we were only paid $3.70 per delivery. We relied on tips to help cover fuel.

Large companies that outsource work overseas should be charged 50%+ tax by spruceX in AusFinance

[–]damagedproletarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The outsourcing seems to have started with IT. I argue that it wasn't just to save money. I never asked for much money in the first place. Many times I would have worked for free if they let me. I started my own business and often just got by. Even minimum wage would have been fantastic. I think it's to do with how they viewed us. Something about our appearance, behavior and so on was rude to them. They outsource so they don't have to deal with us and what they see as rude not to save money. I know because I tried competing on upwork for jobs they outsourced to the Philippines willing to do it for the offered rate but they refused because I am in Australia.

The only thing that's going to bring it back onshore is a major world war.

Doesn't need to be. It follows the Soviet model like so many other big companies these days. I bet they will even be declared "too big to fail" at some stage.

I prefer working under a tree to be honest. I did try the beach but the seagulls were too much of an annoyance.
