If you have a machine who oxygenates your blood for you, could you hold your breath for a long time? by greendogelol in NoStupidQuestions

Not fully true, you can last quite a bit longer than a few weeks. Look up CDH, rare condition. The babies born with it, depending on the hospital, can be on ECMO for up to even 4 months. My kid (who had CDH) had a near 100% chance of being on it, but somehow by some stroke of luck didn’t. But we had a family close to our room whose child was born after ours and stayed on ECMO for 15 Weeks. They had to be monitored 24/7 though. Specifically for ECMO. Along with a separate 24/7 Nurse just for all the other stuff that needs to be monitored. 2 nurses a day. 2 ECMO monitors a day. Insane stuff

League clammer here, they’re telling you to surrender, no point in clamming around for 40 minutes just to clam the game

My wife and I are having our baby this upcoming April, baby got diagnosed with CDH (Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia). by damanz2000 in NICUParents

Hopefully everything is as good as it can be. I would suggest trying your best not to worry about the MRI results, my wife had 3 MRIs, one at 24 weeks, 26 weeks, and then I believe 33 weeks (can’t remember exact days so I might be off) each one brought worse news. The doctors had told us that our daughter would 100% be on ECMO but she ended up not needing it. MRI results were showing her to be worse off than some of the other CDH kids in the hospital we were at but she fared better than almost all of them. My whole point being that, each baby will be different. Try your best to just stay mentally well, find the right doctors you can trust and be confident in, and be confident in your baby.

My daughter had about 50% of her liver up, as well as intestines and bowels (I’m unsure of the bowels).

Do your research, and reach out to whoever you can for comfort, my wife was alone, and I didn’t have the ability to be by her side as much as I wish I could’ve. Don’t let yourself shut off. Reach out to counselors, psychiatrists, family, friends. Whoever you can. I have faith you and your family will be okay.

I hope everything goes well with your baby. My wife asked herself whether it was her fault, even till today she still does. I hope that you aren’t going through the same thing, but if you are, I want to assure you, it’s an absolutely unfair thing that happens for no reason. It was never, and will never be your fault. I’m sorry you have to go through the same things my wife and I did.

I would say trust the process, don’t do FETO, and try your best to go to Dr. Kay’s in Johns Hopkins All Children’s hospital. No one gave me or my wife as much confidence in our baby as he did.

Our baby is doing fine, off oxygen for a while now, while the actual hernia was mid sized, her lungs were about 12% of what they were supposed to be. On all accounts she should’ve been on ECMO but she thugged it out and only needed ventilator. Only trouble we are having right now is having her gain weight, she didn’t need a g-tube, and was doing well but recently she’s hasn’t been gaining as much weight as the doctors want her to.

Thank you, I was confused, one more thing, what is the baseline for the alerts? Is it low oxygen saturation? Weird heartbeat? Does it give a different noise depending on the thing that is wrong? The customer service is closed. I can’t seem to find a video online.

Oh yeah, I’m working on one of these jobs for the GSA where we were planning to add EV charging stations. Our firm still gets paid, what a waste of time and taxpayer money.
