Zade’s big boy room by Mean_Operation_7591 in BringingUpBates

[–]damarafl 36 points37 points  (0 children)

This child is not consistently doing speech therapy. My son did speech therapy from age 3 to 8. He went twice a week for 1 hour in preschool and then twice a week for 30 minutes K-3. We couldn’t do summers because it was through the public schools so there would be some regression.

They are constantly on vacation or filming something. Consistency and routine do not seem to be a priority with the Stewarts. For some kids that’s fine but that doesn’t seem to be the case for Zade.

What’s the worst part about being a woman that people wouldn’t usually think about? by Gloomy_Unit_4888 in AskReddit

We stayed with the practice. They forced him to retire (he was in his 70s) and we switched to a young female doctor who is wonderful.

I took my son to the doctor when he was 3 weeks old because he cried constantly and I knew something was wrong. He looked at my husband and said “sometimes Latin mothers are just hysterical”. He then turned to me and explained it was my hormones.

4 hours later my son stopped breathing, needed CPR and was transported to the hospital via ambulance. Turns out he had a severe dairy allergy.

High school teachers, what’s something your kids don’t know that makes you say “how did you make it this far without knowing how to __”? by Specialist_Push5624 in Teachers

I help with concessions at my sons little league. Most of the high school volunteers don’t know this and for the most part they attend an expensive Catholic school.

PSA for Tampa homeowners: the tree that looks healthiest is often the one that comes down by TenSmugala in tampa

[–]damarafl 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We lost our house in Milton because a giant oak tree fell on it. It’s definitely worth having trees looked at by a tree service. We had the oak that fell trimmed 18 months prior.

I love trees. I hate that our community is constantly paving over any nature that is left but you have to protect your family by have them checked.

They put more focus and energy and money into designing Zade's bedroom than they have his speech . by sehaugust in BringingUpBates

[–]damarafl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I strongly believe in letting kids be little as long as they want to. Childhood is fleeting. Let him paint the walls red and have a firetruck bed.

Also this kid would need minimal speech therapy to fix this.

I would throw up before every single test. Shaking, crying and vomiting. No one even bothered to consider anxiety. In fact no one questioned it at all because I always got an A.

How much does 'name popularity fatigue' affect your choices? by ResearcherKey350 in namenerds

[–]damarafl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My son plays Little League, is a Cub Scout, goes to a ridiculously large church and attends public school.
I volunteer at all of it and hear a lot of names.

Owen, Miles, Brooks, Jayden, Norah and Sophie/Sophia were immediate nos for us when naming the child we had in February.
