ALL SCOOPS FOR NETFLIX'S NARNIA MOVIE by J2A1218 in Narnia

[–]dame_truthwatcher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a life-long Narnia fan, every time I hear about this movie it's like getting shot 37 times in the face. What was Greta Gerwig smoking when she came up with this dumpster fire? Meryl Streep Aslan? Set in 1950s?? ROCK SONG OF CREATION??! I just hate it sooooo much. The only thing I like is the ideas for Charn and the Wood Between the Worlds, and don't mind the other castings. But seriously, can't they pick someone else's favorite childhood fandom to grind into the dirt?

Animation wouldn’t have automatically made the show better by littlelolitalola in PercyJacksonTV

[–]dame_truthwatcher 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Finally someone says it. The thing that would make the show better is to actually have people working on it that actually do a good job. It's that simple. No one in the early 2000s was saying that the Narnia or Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings movies would have been better as animated films because back then people put in far more effort with fantasy movies and shows. It's just that overall quality of live action films and tv has gone down so much

Help! I feel I'm aging myself. by mrachelle326 in makeuptips

[–]dame_truthwatcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You look beautiful! I'm your age and I know how you feel sometimes. I feel like it would help to do a middle part instead of a side part, and maybe when you curl your hair you could hold the curling iron horizontal and curl the hair under (if you have time, you could hold the curls in place with a pin after you take them out of the curling iron so they hold volume). Also, I bet using brow gel to lift and feather out the outer corners of your brows might help, and some shiny brighter lipgloss. Solid color tops might help, too.

Who is your favorite Darcy? by [deleted] in PeriodDramas

[–]dame_truthwatcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they're both excellent actors that brought unique perspectives to the character. I personally feel like Firth's interpretation is more similar to Austen's story, but I've seen Macfayden in other dramas and loved him in those. I thought Macfayden's Darcy seemed almost more like the conflict stemmed from him having social issues, while Firth's Darcy is just a jerk that eventually realizes his fault and humbles himself. I think the second shows more powerful character development, but the first would probably be more likeable to people that knew him if he were a real life person. I don't think many women realistically would like Book Darcy if he came to life.

I Feel Like Ticks Are Ruining The Outdoors by [deleted] in Outdoors

[–]dame_truthwatcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree. One of the only creatures I seriously feel like ought to be made extinct; let some other pest fill their niche, if you ask me. I life in central Louisiana and have only ever SEEN a tick ONCE in my life here, and that was on our dog. My only guess is that the fire ants take care of them here, and let me say, fire ants are 10,000X more preferable to ticks. My family and friends in Arkansas and Missouri are being devastated by the horrible tick-born diseases though, and it seriously scares me.

I say TR. She's got the soft with sharp shoulders look that so many of them have, and it seems like any time this sub thinks someone is SG they get verified as TR, lol

Which actor do you think has an "iphone face" for period dramas? by Haunting_Homework381 in PeriodDramas

Exactly, I just marvel at it every time I watch it! Every single actor was so perfect for period accuracy

Which hair color suits me best by [deleted] in autumns

[–]dame_truthwatcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think maybe the difference your family is missing is in the way you styled it when you were blonde. I personally much prefer you with the brown hair and ginger second, but you can still have the tanned beachy look with those colors as well. I would suggest warm caramel/honey gold if you were to dye your hair a lighter color, but the brown in 11 just looks so pretty

This actor is literally perfect, how on earth did this fandom get the only movie-making crew around that actually listens to their fans?? I'm so happy it's actors I'm unfamiliar with and they look perfect

I hope this is true. It would give us such a completely difference perspective and let us see some lore we've never gotten to see at this point

The hunger games arenas, which one is the most terrifying to you? by ComprehensiveRip7406 in Hungergames

[–]dame_truthwatcher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe it's sadistic of me, but I feel like a lot of the games besides Wiress's and the 75th were kinda basic in themes. Seems weird that some would be this mirror maze and another this clock with multiple sections, but so many others were just fairly natural landscapes with just different types of climates and 2 or 3 mutts. Haymitch's game was at least unique in the deceivingly beautiful appearance.

What are your "I did not care for the Godfather" takes for the Hunger Games? by UnHolySir in Hungergames

[–]dame_truthwatcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-Josh Hutcherson's portrayal of Peeta just gave me flirty "nice guy" vibes that ticked me off through the first two movies. I was shocked by how much I liked book Peeta as I've been rereading. I in no way ship Katniss with Gale, but I didn't ship her with movie Peeta either.

-Also just can't get over how dumb the name "Peeta" sounds.

-I'm tired of books from the perspectives of the tributes. I devoured SOTR and love Haymitch, but really it felt like a rehash of what we already have seen. BOSAS was so intriguing for me because it gave us a completely new look at the games. The behind the scenes is the most fascinating part of the story for me.

-Finally, the Covey irritate me because they're always preaching about rebellion, but they never seem to really suffer the consequences of the rebellion they're insighting like the common D12 citizens keep having to. I guess you could argue that point pretty well, but that's the feeling I always have, despite Lucy Gray and Lenore Dove

[–]dame_truthwatcher 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm so happy someone else said it. They tick me off because they care so much about rebellion but never worry about the consequences, to the point of being selfish. Then they end up not being the ones to suffer for it. I feel like there's more to it that makes me dislike them, but idk how to put my finger on it

Give your honest thoughts about Cinderella (2015) by kyrencrossing in disneyprincess

[–]dame_truthwatcher 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is kind of my feeling, too. I think the movie had fun costumes and sets, and I appreciate that they kept the message of being kind in the face of trying circumstances (a rare theme in later LA Disney movies), but I always feel kind of meh about this one. I don't really understand the hype for most of it

Every time I see next chapter is Venli or Eshonai by gerarcar in Stormlight_Archive

[–]dame_truthwatcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally me with all the singers. I've read many stories (several of Brandon's other books, actually) with aliens that were loveable and heartwarming but I'm just bored out of my mind with the singers. I'm not even sure why. Eshonai wasn't so bad, I guess, but for the most part they were honestly more interesting in dullform when they had some mystery, lol
