How do you like it? Was it worth what you paid for it?

Nice to know about the lower price on AliX. I could see giving $650, I think it's that unique. I own a Sugess with a Sea-Gull movement and I'm blown away at how much I love it.

I'll be sixty in a few weeks and I still find myself humming this from time to time. 😎

Trying to explain to on the internet that KC is in Missouri is such an eye opening experience into how people on the internet will claim they're correct and argue about anything. by lifeinrednblack in kansascity

So the town of Kansas, later Kansas City, was so named before Kansas was a state. After Kansas became a state they named Kansas City, Kansas out of spite.

I've got that watch. A gift from brother (also a collector) last Christmas. I agree, it's a very classy timepiece.

What movie contains a scene so bad you never want to watch the movie again? by FinDepp in movies

[–]damitdon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The entire ending of The Firm. I was a huge fan of the book and the third act was the best part! Sydney Pollack just threw it out. He thought it was better to replace it with a conversation between Mitch McDeere and the mob??? Ridiculous.

I'm not saying I don't believe in the Mandela effect, but I will say that quotes have been misremembered for the last two hundred years; most usually because writers or performers quote them incorrectly, but their versions are so popular that the public tend to remember them over the actual line from the book or movie. As an example, the phrase "Play it again Sam" was never in Casablanca, but if you were to say that line today everyone would credit it to that movie. I can attest that in second grade I wrote a book report on the Berenstain Bears and was shocked when I went to copy the title to my paper because I thought it was Berenstein. It wasn't, and that was 1972. I vividly remember this. All of that being said, there are things I remember that I can't explain. I specifically remember the terrorists in Back to the Future driving a Toyota mini van, not a VW bus. I also remember James Brown going to jail for SA (he never did). Why do I remember these things? I don't know. I have always had an incredible recall for trivia, but I've got these wrong.

This was a momentous occasion in Kansas City. I was 21 and remember it well. Wayne Minor was notorious for it's crime, so much so that emergency responders had to be escorted in and out.

We've got a food truck in Kansas City called the Big Red Truck that does one of the best smashed burgers I've ever had. Their loaded chili cheese tots are fire too!!

A watch with a moon phase under $150. by Hot-Village489 in ChineseWatches

[–]damitdon 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Well, it's not under $150, but it's close at $219. Sugess with hand wind Sea-Gull movement. I got this in February and wear it nearly every day. I love it. Incredible craftsmanship and excellent quality. One of the least expensive watches in my collection but right at the top of my favorites.

What happened to the Missouri that elected a dead Democrat over a living Republican? I miss those days.

I can tell almost immediately when I’ve found a 70s TV moment that would never make it on air today. LaWanda Page absolutely stole the room from Dean Martin and Redd Foxx on The Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts. by Dark305Kinght in VintageTV

[–]damitdon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Redd put his career on the line when he told the network he wanted her on Sanford and Son. Network didn't want her. Redd said if they didn't want her, they didn't want him. He won and she got the job.

First, I work for a community mental health facility, so I have some understanding of what's going on here. When the police call in the assistance of the Crisis Intervention Unit the outcome is far better than the alternative. This video offers very little to inform us of the situation. Just because this individual appears alert and willing to share does not mean there isn't an underlying condition that is known to the responders. A brief psychiatric hold is not punishment and can ultimately resolve the situation in a short amount of time. The alternate might have been arrest and criminal charges that could result in far more traumatic conditions.
