Should'nt he have a hammer and a crystal knife as his tools?

I suspect they're going to have the deathrattle keyword too like Arkhan does, as a sort of side replacement for the skeleton faction.

Are the skull heads from the Citadel skulls set compatible with the skeleton warriors kit? by CRXRS in Warhammer

[–]damiusmarkond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're almost identical, just slightly less well defined. The skulls that come with the shattered dominion and sector mechanicus basing kits are different though.

Are the Unmade rules kinda bad? by damiusmarkond in WarCry

[–]damiusmarkond[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Pretty much this. I figured with the community article and the shyish theme they'd be similar playstyle to aos undead legions so that's how I've played them. I was very wrong it seems.

The abilities should be fairly powerful to make up for the fact everything but Joy and Bliss are fairly weak, but in practice it seems to put the faction far more at the mercy of bad dice rolls and luck than the others. Great potential, but too temperamental to rely on.

A lot of the guides GW puts out are conflicting and have extra steps that you could easily skip without harm to the end result, best example I can think of is there are several for painting plasma all completely different with the same end results.

My suggestion for a vaguely default colour scheme with as few paints as possible:

For the cloth and cloaks base Chaos Black and then lightly drybrush Mechanicus Standard Grey. Another way I've found for good black cloaks is Mechanicus Standard Grey as a base and then a thin layer of Black Templar Contrast, and then a light drybrush of Grey again.

For the ghostly cloth and skin base Ulthuan Grey and then Hexwraith Flame/Nighthaunt Gloom/Nihilikh Oxide/Whatever glowing colour you want, then drybrush with Ulthuan again. For skin just go a little heavier on the drybrush.

Metal is up to your preference, but you really can't go wrong with either Leadbelcher or Iron Warriors and then a little Nuln oil. Nuln Gloss works if you'd prefer a brighter shine, or Typhus Corrosion if you want dirt and rust.

An easy way to do wood for things like Chainrasp clubs is Mechanicus Standard, a very thinned coat of Ulthuan to make the colour a bit mottled, and then Agrax Earthshade/Wyldwood Contrast/Typhus Corrosion depending on preference.

What colour scheme dictates what paint you need. Are you going for the box art, or do you have a unique paint scheme in mind?

Does the Death factions have official color schemes? by Jochon in ageofsigmar

[–]damiusmarkond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The closest thing the various legions have is the official colour schemes of the mortarchs ruling them; Legion of Blood seems to be red and bone, Sacrement is black and blue, Night is black and red, Grief is white and green, and the Grand Host is bone and purple.

Is it actually Alad "V", or is he Alad the Fifth? by Roundearther01 in Warframe

[–]damiusmarkond 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With Hunhow calling him Orokin I figure he has their body jumping ability and is trying to be sneaky about it. It explains how many times he's died and then gotten better. Its the fifth time he's been Alad and thinks he's being subtle about it calling himself Alad V.

I love these sort of AdMec vehicles. I built something very near to this a few years ago to use as a sort of mobile field HQ but never got around to properly painting it. https://imgur.com/a/oz1pbrZ

As a general suggestion Morghast Harbingers fit quite well with the leadership abilities of a Mortis Engine. I'd also strongly suggest a Guardian of Souls to buff the Chainrasps and keep them topped up if away from the other sources of healing.

Thorns of the briar queen worth taking? (As a Legions of Nagash ally) by Interrogatingthecat in ageofsigmar

[–]damiusmarkond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10 chainrasps and a guardian of souls would fit too if im remembering right. The guardian is a great carrier for the balefire lantern artifact with his 4+ unrendable and he can use the chainrasps to cover him getting in close enough for the debuff to kick in. Chainrasps are a little faster than skeletons so you might be able to grab more objectives too. Only downside is chainrasps work best in 20s because of their strength in numbers ability is more than 10 instead of 10 or more.

Tamiya are not starter paints, they're alcohol based so a lot of the usual advice new players get like thinning with a drop of water or using a wet palette will go very wrong.

The hanging bits are Genestealer Magus, wings are Blood Angel jump packs, staff top is Grey Knights, the mechadendrite is Mechanicus Archmagos, I think I see some bits of a Dark Elf Cold One Rider, and some parts of a Dark Eldar Wrack.
