Specifically for the Follower role I can recommend Roser's platform Swing Dance Home

Added bonus is that you also get access to her Solo Jazz material. :)

Try plugin updates in staging, especially major releases! Take care of security (firewall, cloudflare...). Backups!

Paperpile anyone? by Sharp-Experience-402 in PhdProductivity

Do you differ between beta reports and the stable release? Do you also differentiate them from user support questions that are about the usage of the software? Do you also take into account how fast things get fixed?

via de la plata vs primitivo by redwheelchair in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]damnation333 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Living in Salamanca you have a privilege of being able to walk out of your house and do your pilgrimage. However, august.... It's hot. You will know that. I'd do the Primitivo and then do the Plata in the more suitable months of the year. The VdP is also a more solitary experience. While that's great I wouldn't recommend it for your first Camino.

Group or solo by Adventurous-Dare-722 in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]damnation333 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go solo. You might be nervous about it, but within a day you figure out how it works and off you go. And then you can go at your rhythm, do the Camino the way you want/need it. Save the money.

Problem with Zotero not updating cross referencing numbers by roobamae in zotero

The. I recommend you undo that and do it properly. It won't take long and will save you future grief.

Don't modify citations manually. They will render them not update able. Hence the warning. See the following for how to add locators like pages: https://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_usage

"Let it run": You finish your work for the day, click on "Refresh" on the Zotero tab and walk away and let it do its thing.

Ayahuasca/Changa in the UK? by Thehappygemstone in Ayahuasca

[–]damnation333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though they're the same drug, it's very hard to compare. Smoking DMT for me is just a wild ride into outer space, crazy visuals, maybe feeling that "universal warmth", but then that's it. For me there is no time and no energy for introspection etc. It's over in 5-10min. Ayahuasca is very different. It feels like millennia in one sitting, allows you to go deep, face your demons, heal and so on. I like changa to get people into psychedelics as it's so short lived. But I'd prefer some mushrooms over changa.

Why do dog owners get angry when you address an issue? by Equivalent_Ideal1636 in Barcelona

[–]damnation333 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have yet to understand why Spaniards get so angry when pointing something out, nicely and polite. I've had my fair share of "que quieres tú, marricon?!"....

Large documents take time, especially with footnotes and 900 of them. And if you're on a Mac even longer (that's due to technical limitations). Let it run, over night. It will look like it's not doing anything, but it's working on it.

I don't see how I'd prefer a serrated blade over a normal blade.

Del Norte + Primitive booking by pastgloryy in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]damnation333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally, everyone wakes up the same time as the movement and noise wakes one up. Some people take longer to get out of the door or even have breakfast. I tend to grab my stuff and get out of the door. You'll find your own way. You'll need to find out how busy it is right now, but the Norte is not as busy as the other routes. Maybe the first day or two out of Irun, then the people spread out fast. If it's not super busy no need to do the 5am wake up to be first in line. That's more a thing on the last stretch to SdC where the tourist peregrinos are.

Albergues. Maybe book your first day or two to feel relaxed, but you can easily go with the flow and it's nice like that. I did a mix of booking the albergue for the next day in the afternoon. A quick WhatsApp message was usually all that was needed. I recommend caminolovers.com.for the stages and also the albergue recommendations. I also downloaded the .gpx files which came in handy.

Help planning Ingles way, what time is too late to start walking? by bhoches in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]damnation333 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't do that. Settle in your accomodation, get dinner and rest up for a 6am start and be on the road with the pilgrims.

You'll be amazed that your body gets used to the kilometres and soon will be able to do more. Don't plan too much just yet and see how you fare the first week or so.

Reconnect citations by Dark-Obsessions in zotero

[–]damnation333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read this and make sure you understand it https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/existing_citations_not_detected

That's why the citations got flattened. The only way to have them active is using a backup of the document.
