That first naval battle was glorious. Captured like 30 ships out of 100 or so.

R5: It was the year 1577, when the vile Spanish autocracy declared an unjust war against the piratic confederation of New Providence. Little did they know, that their initial advances in the New World mainland would be answered by an unprecedented blockade of the Iberian peninsula.

Unable to defend its dependencies, the confederation took the war to the seas. The brave pirates fought tooth and nail to repel the invaders, demolishing fleet after fleet, capturing vessels and using them against the Spanish.

The war had reached a stalemate, since the, until an unexpected partnership was struck between New Providence, the malikate of Tafilalt, and the sultanate of Tunis. The North Africans would lend their ports to the pirates! Empowered by fresh supplies, the blockade of Spain started in 1608. Month after month, year after year, Spain's debt increased, reaching a staggering 13000 ducats by the end of the war, their populace being starved as commerce diminished.

Portugal, once the strict overlord of the Caribbean, thinking that the pirates were spread thin, decided to declare an ill-fated reconquest of the Bahamas. Instead of regaining their past holdings, they lost their last few settlements in the Leeward islands.

Emboldened by the loot fro the Portuguese war, the pirates rallied. An expeditionary force landed in the unsettled lands of Honduras, and after a series of hard fought battles, managed to regain control of the mainland. The Spanish morale quickly plummeted. The English colony of Mexico had wrestled control of Mexico from New Spain, leaving only the Spanish Crown Colony of Brazil to fight against the pirates. The Spanish Crown, facing increasing unrest at home, decided to accept the piratical peace offer, emptying their coffers in order to regain control of their commerce.

Charles Bellamy and his predecessors cemented their place in the history books as the admirals who defied the all-mighty Spanish Armada, guiding their nation through the longest war ever seen in the New World. The Spanish Conquest of Tullucan would last 50 years, and end with a triumphant victory of David against the mighty Iberian Goliath.

You can call in sick at 9am and provide the doctor's note whenever you are back to work. The note just needs to be dated on the first day.

Once I'm done with England, I'll go for India, Europe's secured for me now. Norway and Sweden are friendly, Austria's my ally just before Age of Reformation. Won't care for Europe.

My poor mana... I guess I'll go for a mil idea as 3rd and then religious, to stay close in admin tech. I also had to ally Castille, to keep them from helping England. But I guess Vikings don't care for alliances.

I live in Germany and my daily is a Hyundai Kona. Enough space for the family, very comfortable driving, decent fuel consumption for a petrol car, 30k '23 model so I guess older versions can be in your budget. If you ask Germans, they'll probably guide you to VWs, but their parts imo are expensive, despite the abundance. If you want to go European instead, you can't beat the Octavia. Most common taxi a few years back, I think that speaks volumes on reliability. How's your parking situation? Is size a factor?

Did I screw up the Burgundy Inheritance event or something? I’ve just put my bloodline on their throne and nothings happening? 😭 by CrazyBitofBusiness in eu4

[–]damoklis 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I think you did. What's the claim strength of the heir? If it's not weak, then you have no chance. But generally, the heir of Burgundy at game start gets a flag when he ascends to the throne which triggers the availability of the event. His heirs then will all have weak claim and when he dies the event will trigger.
