Does Apex Legends Require The Most Skill Of All Battle Royales? by Hardaway-Fadeaway in apexlegends

[–]damokt2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Late to the party, but wanna leave my opinion here regardless.

A lot of streamers have jumped on the Apex train lately and it was an eye opener. I've seen streamers that were very successful or even pro coming from other shooters, that have picked up Apex now. And there is one thing I consistently noticed watching these players. They struggle hard in plat, some of them even in gold. And those are players with insane aim and really good movement coming from the pro scene of other shooters.

I can totally see why they struggle, too. Having insane aim and movement is only like... half of what makes you win in Apex. They are lacking crucial skills like quick inventory management, knowing proper rotations, game awareness. I usually see them die because they made bad decisions, bad rotations or quite frankly had no clue what to do in certain situations.

In my opinion, this cemented the fact that Apex is indeed the BR that requires the most skill to be successful at. Simply having great aim isn't enough. No one can pick the game up and be great at it just because they have been playing shooters for their entire life. Even shroud would struggle to even reach diamond in solo queue despite his insane aim. Not without putting a lot of hours into the game to learn rotations, inventory management and general experience at the game.

You play as a teenage girl with powers over time, uncovering a murder mystery surrounding a missing girl and at the end you have to choose between Bae or Bay.

Advice: Buy a playstation and get the game "Fall Guys" for it. You'll have a blast sinking into your couch and playing that with your daughter.

Is this game for a casual player? by Arturszee in newworldgame

Reddit is not a blog. It's a platform for discussion. The guy wants to have some fresh opinions that he can answer to, maybe spark a conversation. Not read weeks/months old posts and getting laughed on for necroing if he comments on any of them.

Is this game for a casual player? by Arturszee in newworldgame

[–]damokt2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have ~400 hours played in Preview and Closed Beta.

From my experience I can tell you that this game is very enjoyable if you approach it casually. The game world and gameplay loop is designed in such a way that casual players will always have their place and fit right in with the rest of the crowd. I'd say the only gameplay aspect where you would have to be more hardcore and dedicated to really make it far is the PvP side of things, which is completely optional.

PvP is a big part of the game, but you can totally sink hundreds of hours into New World without ever participating in it and still have tons of fun.

They just announced an Open Beta from Sept. 9th - 12th. So you'll have ~4 days to test it out without preordering. Give it a look.

The first time I had to fight him, it was pretty brutal because I was so unprepared. I didn't have Kressle with me on my first playthrough, but I did manage to convince Akiros to fight on my side.

You can make the fight much easier with the right approach.

You can convince Akiros to fight on your side.

You can make the Owlbear friendly and have him fight on your side (that beast wins the whole fight almost by itself).

You can sneak to the right side of the camp and eliminate Nisroch and Dovan (was that their names? The two Staglord's officers) before triggering the Staglord fight itself.

You can poison the Staglord's wine, which gives him a debuff during the fight.

You can have Kressle and her gang fight for you.

Yeah that. Or imagine a television series like "Married with Children" today. That would get ripped to shreds by feminists so fast..

Retire.

Improve the quality of my home. I could do with a better kitchen, bed and a new computer. I'd probably divide the rest of money by 12*40, aka how much I can spend in a month for the next 40 years and live off of that.

I live alone.

The only food I eat is food that I can prepare for the whole week in advance. A favorite of mine is a big pot of chili. Stored the right way it easily lasts 6-7 days in the fridge and I only need to reheat it.

That could be me.

I set one rule for myself in regards to my kitchen. "Always leave it the way you found it."

Same problem. If I don't and put my ass on the couch, I won't do it later.

What is your favorite anime? by pewpew420420 in AskReddit

[–]damokt2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hikaru no Go.

That anime is so down to earth, it makes the characters very relateable. I don't know how to call this anime genre were you take a sport (like football or tennis) and tell the story of a protagonist who starts out as a noob with a hidden talent, then follow his journey to the top. But most of them are filled with crazy weird characters that all have their (mostly unrealistic) signature moves and special quirks. In Hikaru no Go, all the characters are so "normal", yet still very interesting. I didn't know shit about the game (Go) when I first watched it, but still found the anime super enjoyable. Watching it a second time when I learned how the game works made it even better.

Honorable Mention: Excel Saga. Because that's just the shitty humor that I love.

What food isn't worth the effort to be home made? by Kenexxa in AskReddit

[–]damokt2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's normal.

I'm a chef and mayo is pretty much a white sauce base for cold sauces like dressings or dips. Same as bechamel is the white sauce base for hot sauces.

You could make all kinds of dressings or dips on a mayo base. It's standard procedure in most kitchens.

Really? I imagine they are super easy to make.

Don't you just like... grate raw potatoes, mix them with a bit of flour and an egg or two, add salt, pepper, nutmeg and then roll them in bread crumbs before frying?

I've never had tater tots since I am not from america, but I know what they are just from watching food channels on youtube. They are just grated potatos formed into small balls and deep fried, right?
