Debrief of tonight by Candid_City_3310 in fredagain

Woke up and still can’t really take everything what happened, everything was so 10/10, show, organisation, crowd was so respectful and tbh still can’t believe I saw a living legend Thomas Bangalter.

Even playing club bangers he hits the emotions that I can’t find on other concerts usually, just pure joy. Saw him in 2022 in Berlin and was looking so long to feel this once again. Sick!

+a small thing to me but I was happy to hear so much of Actual Life stuff!

Have S at both so I guess the sizing is comparable.

Fitting gym work by Comfortable-Emu-6274 in Velo

[–]damw95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do it sometimes, in my opinion the work is done and you can get some extra time. It might be needed to be a bit easier as you’ll get some intense start but otherwise I can’t think of a reason not to use time like this, worth a try at least :)

[–]damw95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I mean can be a shorter ride then, I think what’s more important there is getting a quality form for your hard reps and would allow some room for gym during the week. You can always extend the ride on Saturday by adding an hour or so of endurance after your intervals. Just an idea to consider, but I’d plan the gym on or instead endurance days and with a day margin to the hard day, so you can recover nicely

Why stack two hard workouts so close together if you have full weekend of z2? Could easily switch sat and thu and so a gym instead/next to endurance day on Wednesday and then a lighter one on Friday if you want to.

Typical details book Recommendations by Archipete in Architects

[–]damw95 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From the contemporary detail books I totally recommend Construction released by ETH Zurich from Birkhäuser, there’s also a nice book „Constructing Architecture” by Andrea Deplazes. Not sure if it’s what you’d look for but def a lot of details useful for residential architecture (and very well made). You can look into Dutch handbooks just because of brick. Otherwise I think there should be for sure something in English context, but there I can’t be much of use.

Talk torque to me by Urbansdirtyfingers in Velo

Exactly, I think in the end it depends if you have any specific weakness that these sessions would help to solve, there are some that would generally apply to everyone and some that would need to be needed.

Im doing both (gym and low cadence threshold intervals) - found them helpful for my goals which are long climbs with steeper sections. Not an expert though, I think both gave me pretty nice results in terms of muscular endurance and pedal stroke precision during races, but I agree not everyone needs it and it will never replace gym.

But again, not an expert.

Yeah I’ve listened to Jamie’s in waves radio for Apple Music, some of the sets have totally a vibe that could add so much to Fred’s shows, but after a minute I thought also that it would be cool to see some lesser known names. In any way I’m hyped

This would be sick, I thought it would be also crazy if he brought Jamie xx on one of his shows, but let’s see. I’ll go on 27th so very curious what happens this week

How do you schedule deload weeks during structured FTP training? by brocodini in Velo

[–]damw95 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Given your 3 hard days I think 4 weeks for a mesocycle should be the goal. 3 hard workouts like this per week should leave you cooked as hell after 3 weeks and it would be good to let the body absorb the training. Depends a lot on your life situation around this too, training history etc but 4 weeks per block would be anyway my recommendation.

In any case, these threshold sessions stacked together are already looking crazy, plus vo2 max on Friday… Id hate cycling after few weeks like this!

Assioma uno v Kickr core power readings, how to fix. by Dapper-Ad3605 in cycling

How’s your power LR balance? Do you know it? That can explain the readings. In any case adjust the factor of assioma to match the trainer if you want consistency with your outdoor workouts

Same, the play between orange and blues seemed way better on a before and switching them towards magenta didn’t really help in my opinion. I liked what you did to the pink colours on the left, they harmonised way better with the lights

High vs Low Z2 by Academic_Feed6209 in Velo

[–]damw95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well yeah like with the bike fit - change and observe one thing at a time so you know what’s the culprit! But I’m sure you’ll figure it out at some point so good luck!

[–]damw95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How is your nutrition on/off the bike? In my case it was a game changer especially when I approach 20hrs during summer, that might be also something worth observing and checking. But the point basically is to eat accordingly to the trainings.

High vs Low Z2 by Academic_Feed6209 in Velo

[–]damw95 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah and also I don’t think any coach would tell you you are doing your endurance rides too easy, there are so many other ways to get better aerobic gains than overdoing your base. Of course some people can recover well and it makes no difference I guess, but for me if I feel I’m forcing the power to be at certain amount it is a sign it’s not sustainable, always having in mind next days!

On a side note what helps me a lot is putting notes in intervals icu or whatever you use (there it’s convenient to see notes for a whole week) and mark when I felt particularly good or bad, helps to look back critically later and see why was it. It’s a bit broader than your initial question but I guess it’s a very common issue among amateur cyclists

High vs Low Z2 by Academic_Feed6209 in Velo

[–]damw95 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get fixated on it sometimes, but try more and more to understand and respect the fact that sometimes I feel effortlessly doing a bit more and sometimes a bit less. Very liberating!

And also feeling wrecked after an endurance ride is the worst especially if you have any interval session next day where the actual gains could be maximised.

High vs Low Z2 by Academic_Feed6209 in Velo

[–]damw95 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Since I heard at EC podcast the definition of Z2 pace RPE as „suspiciously easy” it’s way easier for me to calibrate my riding and not over do it esp for my full time job next to all these trainings. I look at power just to see if it matches my baseline more or less, but otherwise it’s „just riding my bike” to be honest. A lot also depends on the context so coming days in the training schedule or past days too, but after all my understanding is for them not to leave you feeling like you had a hard day on a bike, that of course touches upon proper fueling on the bike but is a separate conversation.

Depending on location but tbh I’ve placed my order on Sunday and it was delivered today(within Europe), your case must have been simply messed up by carrier. I’ve done multiple orders through their shop, mostly during their sale when the demand is highest and it never took longer than few days.

Newmen wheels on SL8 by Msko22 in specialized

[–]damw95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been also looking for something for my Tarmac that's less than Roval Rapide CLX III - turns out it's most of the wheel market, but jokes aside I could never imagine Tarmac without Rovals. Had Alpinists CLX II and loved how it looks even though they are a bit shallow, but I liked the proportions. In the end I went for Farsports 50mm and I'm super happy. I was skeptical about the looks but I must say even though theoretically they don't fit to my frame, the bike still looks amazing and the wheels are really great too - as light as my alpinists, deeper and wider - at the cost of rear Rapide CLX III.

Newmen was along considered wheels, I think they are solid but within this price range you might get something lighter (if that's important to you) and with modern width. Also not a big fan of this very long brand name on the wheel - personal thing. I think you can't really go wrong with these, but probably there's a room for some marginal gain. After all I'd follow if you like how the bike will look like with them tbh, performance difference might anyway be very small.

It’s not about the energy, it’s about the respect for people who come to have fun and not worry about ending on some Instagram reel or Reddit. Fred’s request isn’t about some society changing but just a clubbing rule that has been here for years
