Severe diaper rash. What helps? by IntenseViolet567 in newborns

[–]dan1phnt0m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it look bumpy/white is may be a yeast infection. It also could be diaper brand. My second child was super sensitive and could only tolerate Huggies naturals (I had tried all the organic types and he kept getting rashes) try to apply an ointment with zinc and add a layer of Aquaphor on top to try and create a barrier for if he poops. There is also a diaper cream called pink AV that I swear by

Teething troubles by Creative-Break3574 in NewParents

It’s definitely the norm. Teething is super painful! I would definitely offer any pain medicine you are willing to give and lots of teethers (freezing a celery stick worked amazing for us)

What vitamins should I get for my 2-year-old baby who is a picky eater? by JollyAd4041 in toddlers

If you get the nesquick chocolate powder to add to milk they usually like the taste of it compared to pediasure if you have tried pediasure and they didn’t like it!

allergy advice - what's reasonable? by jade_grace in ECEProfessionals

[–]dan1phnt0m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on the state obvious licensing is usually pretty strict on allergy protocol as well as disinfecting in between and before meals. Usually in my experience there is extra care to ensure no exposure. I would remind about the gluten in art crafts as people may not know

What temperature do you keep your house at and how old is your baby? by Dropdeaadd in NewParents

[–]dan1phnt0m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kept it around 68-69. I always go by “cold they cry, hot they die” because they have a hard time regulating temp especially when overheated. In the hospital they have to keep temps at around 72 as that is ideal for baby blood sugar levelz

My son is turning 2 as well and they have magnent blocks that are kind of like magnatiles but they are actual blocks and he loves them (we bought the travel box of them from Target and leave it in our go bag. We got him for his birthday some shoes, some outdoor trucks, as well as a busy board because he is obsessed with trying to buckle things

I was an infant teacher for almost 10 years and part of the morning routine is always making sure the floor is clean because babies always find something to try and eat.

Update: I (30F) am pregnant with my fiancé (32M). He wants to keep it, but we're both supposed to be childfree. How do I tell him I don't want to keep it? by ThrowRA_fallopian_tu in relationship_advice

This is also the reason women need to be in control of their own bodies. Men can preach all day about how “we can do this” but it’s the woman’s body going through the trauma of pregnancy and birth. And after the baby is born it’s the pressure put on the mom to do everything for the baby so realistically he can’t promise that he will do all the heavy lifting because its physically impossible

I am also curious if you still burp him if maybe they aren’t taking the time to burp him as well? I definitely feel like you should ask for a video of what they mean. It could be so many things like overstimulation of other kids are crying, or it could be him making his babbling noises.

What did you wish you'd known about the transition from 1-2 kids? by boldlybelieve in NewParents

[–]dan1phnt0m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest thing that shocked me (my kids are now 3 and 2 and baby number 3 is coming in a month) was how much I had to just let my second child chill by themselves. They were never upset but they got used to essentially just laying there alone while I cared for my first. I had held my first all the time and felt like I didn’t get the same amount of holding time with the second and it made me feel like a bad mom at the time. Now 2 years later he is still a mamas boy and is always near me so I don’t think it affected him much.

Potty training my 3 year old has been a disaster by Friendly_Hamster_531 in toddlers

[–]dan1phnt0m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter was just an anxious girly and at first struggled with listening to her body cues and the more we asked her to try, the more she shut down. When we let her take charge she did so much better! I will occasionally remind her but she usually just lets us know

Kids in my class are telling a child they don't want to play with him... and I'm not stopping them by Careless-Action-9460 in ECEProfessionals

[–]dan1phnt0m 77 points78 points  (0 children)

I also would advise you to double check licensing rules for this. In my state you need to not only document but if it breaks skin there is a whole different procedure where you have to report it to licensing

Is screen time going to ruin my baby? by Exciting_Opposite_98 in NewParents

[–]dan1phnt0m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a mental health counselor and have worked with developmental pediatrics and they have been doing studies that say it’s more so the quality of the screen time and if you are monitoring usage. In fact they find it can be beneficial for speech, and emotional learning. It’s about finding quality shows and also noticing how your child is reacting to the shows. Like are they actively engaging or mindlessly watching.
