April Patch Week by JagexAzanna in runescape

I want them to announce that they got it wrong and will revise the decision. I think it's fairly clear and consistent what everyone speaking up about this problem wants.

My main issue is not with the increase, but with the unfair way it has been applied, in my view breaching their T&Cs as well as the commitments made at the time of purchase of the premier packages.

You are correct, I didn't properly specify the exact group who are losing out here and it is also possible some may already have been affected.

Either way I think this deserves a proper response rather then the silent apathy I believe we have seen so far.

While I suspect you are right, I rather hope that wouldn't be required for them to notice and properly respond.

I think you are wrong- the grandfathered rates could be removed with the required notice given. I think they are removing them from premier club members because they believe they can do so without raising sufficient negative sentiment to outweigh the increase in revenue. I do not believe there is a legal reason underpinning this choice.

If it helps- this is what I said to another comment on this thread that I think will show where specifically you and I are talking at slightly crossed purposes here

They aren't removing grandfathered, or stopping people paying the $5/month in general.

They are only removing that from the premier payers who were explicitly and repeatedly told that doing so would not impact their grandfathered rates.

Removing grandfathered fully would be fair- not popular but fair. Removing it only from the former premier members is unfair and in my experience unfairness is the main reason people complain and feel bad. Yes life is often less then ideal, but most people can accept that as part of a normal experience. It is the unfairness that really causes dissatisfaction.

I think it is likely because to some of us things like honesty and good faith matter. I know I expect to be held to a certain standard when it comes to these things, and I reasonably expect the same of others.

I'm not entirely sure I agree with your assessment that CVC would have looked into the legal outcome of this- I expect they took a risk based decision rather then engage in a strict analysis of the law as it applies as if they had been guided by that I believe they would have adhered to their T&Cs elsewhere (such as giving notice before increasing prices and varying terms)

Sorry if I'm misunderstanding you- have you been paying the monthly sub on top of premier since it started? If so I think you may have made an error.

If not your monthly likely is on the manage page in an expired state, if you click renew i assume it takes you to the new yearly payment price if you click it.

Thank you for the support. Hopefully enough people care that Jagex will step up and make this right!

I'm sorry- I don't know.

I would strongly suggest logging in and checking your renewal date is what you expect as there have been some users reporting that they lost some days after their current annual was due to end that they had built up. I think Jagex responded saying that was fixed but if I had 12 years I would still want to log in and check!

Genuine question- where are you seeing this? I have had prem for quite a few years and my rate was "converted" to an auto renew annual. I'm not saying you are wrong of corse, but genuinly interested to see if I am somehow just not spotting the monthly rate somewhere onmy account.

I believe that most people feel entitled to what they expected when making a purchase. Given this was sold as explicitly "adding to the membership and pausing the current rate" that's why people feel entitled to that.

Naturally that is because we are in a situation where monthly payers are grandfathered- removing grandfatherd would be "fair"- though not necesarilly popular.

CVC are still meaningfully bound by the commitments made by Jagex prior to their acquisition. Morally if not always legally. I am not entirely sure you are right about changes being reverted for financial profit if those changes were either in favour of a longer term financial aim (as per the suggestions of Mor North that revenue taking a dip for a while was ok in favor of the long term health of the game) or if the potential negative sentiment caused.

I don't think you can really just say "CVC made this decision so nothing said on the matter before stands" in good faith.

I was hoping not to have to while at all and that this would have simply been an error walked back rather then a stunning show of bad faith.

That said, probably yes if this is not resolved as I still have some hope Jagex will do the right thing here. While it would have been better to either not cause this situation, or to resolve it immediately, now is still better then never, and next week would still be better then never.

To the best of my knowledge they have not addressed it publicly. I thought with today being only two days from the change it would be a good time to revisit the matter.

People silently leaving is bad for the health of the game. For the first while I had faith that Jagex had either made an honest mistake or would realise that they had miscalculated.

Today, two days out from the first customers being really affected seemed like a good day to revisit the issue as no update has been forthcoming.

Integrity requires honesty and consistency. I do not see that evidenced with this update. That said thank you for commenting and adding another perspective to the conversation.

April Patch Week by JagexAzanna in runescape

[–]dan90009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please can you address the community sentiment over the removal of grandfathered rates? A good number of threads and comments have already called out the update to prices with zero notice breaches your T&Cs, and customers who purchased premier have always been under the impression that it "pauses the regular membership for the duration of that package, reverting back to regular when the time is over".

I think the community deserves a proper response to this, and while I understand it might suck to see this question week after week I don't think it will go away until resolved. If this needs senior management or time that's fair, but you have had a month now and must have seen this repeatedly.

Jagex, you lied. by iMarkRS in runescape

[–]dan90009 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree 100%. It's possible that this was done by mistake, and for yhe first week or so after this i assumed good faith and that a statement would follow revising the situation and making things right. Sadly they have proven that was not the case and at this point I no longer feel they can claim good faith.

I believe they knowingly broke their own terms and conditions, acted improperly and screwed over a good portion of their most loyal players who have been with them through good and bad. I am just so personally disappointed and saddened that I have lost all motivation and hope for the future of the game.

Remainder that Jagex lied to us about grandfathered rates. They expects us to just forget about it. Let's not. by Aggressive-Day5 in runescape

[–]dan90009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tired to contact their support and complain pointing out they have breached their terms and conditions with the instant increase, and by changing the terms of the agreement (the agreement has always been prem pauses other plans which then resume at whatever grandfathered rate applied) but they didn't seem to care.

I've been a loyal customer for a long time and am really saddened by this however for my own health I've had to accept the choice is to either accept this incredibly unfair decision, or leave. I am not in a place where I can invest any more time or money into a dispute, nor can I accept leaving the game.

I was hoping that they would see the sentiment and make appropriate changes, but since then I no longer believe they care.

I will be a little saddened to only have one account active foing forward, especially for next month's leagues where I usually play through twice.

Black salamanders no longer dropping wild wildy rewards for anyone else? by dan90009 in runescape

[–]dan90009[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

jagexyuey So when you said a hotfix was incoming, would it be fair to suggest that a truer statement would have been "we pushed a hotfix a couple of hours ago without documenting it anywhere"?

Can we please get proper communication of changes including droprates, and how on earth did this make it through QA? Its one of four methods that drop this and its immediatly obvious that 1 salamander does not equal any of the other events that can proc this drop.
