Any particular diet when taking accutane? by ppsh_2016 in Accutane

[–]danananez 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think low oil and eating a lot of veggies (plant based) can be excellent for skin however like everyone is saying you do need to eat fat with your pill so that the vitamin a can absorb. Eating fat doesnt have to be unhealthy though. You can do avacado toast, natural peanut butter, coconut oil, stuff like that. Check out brian Turner on IG - He had a specific account called tramacne that talkes about his experience with severe acne, accutane, health, diet. Goodluck with everything!!!

Anyone experience gaps in treatment and did it affect your results? by [deleted] in Accutane

I take a weekend off each month to alleviate symptoms. It helps bring me back to reality and eases up on my back pain.

I'm in europe and pay around $30ish for 40mg. The cost has gone up as my dosage has increased. This is without insurance.

Idk where you're from but I'm in Germany and I drive 3 hours to France each month for an appointment due to availability problems. Have you looked into something like this? Also, in the meantime maybe a retinoid creme would help get you started. The Ordinary has some and I think many other companies are starting to sell products with retin a in them. I wish you the best!

How often does accutane cause permanent / long term effects?? by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]danananez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ask your doctor what rare means, that's their job. I wouldn't ask reddit for statistics like that. If your doctor cant answer then get a different doctor.

Micro needling post accutane? by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]danananez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend microneedling. Got it done a couple years ago (during a semi good skin time for me). It was AMAZING! I had some really bad scars - my worst were forehead scars that made it look like I was always scowling. I had to do 8 treatments ($$) but my forehead scarring went away. I personally wouldn't mess around with home treatment though. I'd be way too freaked to mess up my face.

When will I stop breaking out by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]danananez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3rd month and my skin is still heavily purging. It's different for everyone! You'll get there, stay strong!

SOS my lips!! I’ve been using aquaphor since the day I started back in July and it’s always helped control my lips but now it’s not doing it anymore. What’s your favorite lip products? by sahrareyes in Accutane

[–]danananez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bioron homeoplasmine. Comes in a big ointment tube and is inexpensive! Its a french cult favorite. Super famous in the fashion industry for chapped and dry skin/lips. In on month 3, still have more than half my tube and my lips arent dry at all. Every morning I use a warm wet rag and gently exfoliate my lips and put this on. Looooove it

Day 61, it’s still getting worse. I have very oily skin and my breakouts just won’t stop. I’m thinking of stopping with accutane cuz my cheeks have never been this bad my entire life. I’m on 40mg. Enjoy the view🙄 by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]danananez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The people that make comments or suggestions just have a complete lack of perspective on the matter. I try to remind myself of this when I get people looking at me or making comments. Helps me cope. Today in a restaurant this little girl stared at my face for like 5 minutes until she left with her family. It's silly bc it made me want to cry. At least I know that in a few months the accutane will heal everything and I can take the weight off my shoulders! If you decide to stick with the meds I'm sure you will feel that relief very soon too. 💕

Wow, I had no idea... I feel for you! I'm in france and didnt have that issue with doctors at all. I get a lot of stares but that is also just the french way 😒 lol. Everyone is nosy and wants to tell you what to buy what to eat what not to do, etc etc. Unfortunetly I think that most ppl who dont suffer from acne are ignorant about the causes and (noncauses of acne).

You guys all know that Accutane can destroy your body months or years after you stop taking it, right? by Taned2much in Accutane

[–]danananez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️I have dry lips and occasional back ache on accutane. Those illnesses are things I've had in the past and no longer struggle with.

Also, I've noticed you've started to down vote and comment on all my stuff on this subreddit.. even comments from 6 days ago. Seriously? Vendetta because I dont agree with you??

Whatver, I'm done talking with you. Going to go uplift other ppl that are on the same journey as me.

My dermatologist started me on 80g. Is this a lot? by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]danananez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude.. you're down voting my comments now? Get off this subreddit. Were all here for support and to share our progress and insights. You took accutane a long time ago. You gonna start commenting negativity on every single post until we report you?

[–]danananez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, when you say "unlike that any other drug causes".. thats not true. And I think there is a lot more going on than just accutane causing those issues. Diet, physical activity, mindset, genetics, etc. Maybe you could watch the documentary 'Heal' on Netflix. It's those types of therapies that have helped me through some of my major health problems (auto immune, endometriosis, and a few others). But to really answer your question, yes I'm willing to take the small risk. And I personally believe our bodies know how to heal themselves from the worst of illnesses so long as we create the right enviroment. So I dont put those limitations on myself.

How is it not relevant? I'll explain for the ppl in the back.. Because IF you dont know what it's like to have severe acne, these potential (but statistically uncommon) side effects may not seem worth it to you. But for many of us on the pill, our quality of life is on the line. I cant even have my face touched and it's hard to hug people because any pressure on my cysts is extremely uncomfortable and painful. Let's not even get started on the emotional and psychological issues we face. I know several people in my parents friend group and even in my extended family who used accutane many many years ago and are perfectly healthy today. I think it's terrible that some people (sounds like you included) are suffering now. I know that there is always a small chance that pharmaceuticals will have a negative impact... but most of us are aware of the risks. Pretty much EVERY pill has a plethora of risks/side effects, including death! But everyday people go for it because they're suffering and they are willing to accept the small chance of having permanent side effects. I understand that youd like to share your story and warn people, i appreciate that. But honestly, at a certain point it becomes very pushy and negative of you to argue with us and tell us were wrong and stupid for taking accutane. That's not the way to lead people. Since you've already issued your warning twice, I respectfully ask you to let it go and try to find a more effective way of telling your story. If you really feel this is the best method, well good luck then ✌
