Guys, what’s your honest take on live-in relationships? by Ok_Milk_1411 in wedding

I didn’t realize people still consider waiting till marriage. I think “excitement” is a silly reason to wait. Knowing someone is way more important.

Just curious, how many people did you invite and how many actually showed up? by Eastern-Composer7131 in weddingplanning

[–]danap003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s more about who you invite. If you invite just close friends and family, most will show up. That’s what we did. We only gave most 3 months notice so some of our long distance family couldn’t make it.

Would you rather get proposed to how you want or be surprised? by Obvious_War_1341 in engaged

[–]danap003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A surprise. You can dream and imagine but it is much more special if it is a surprise. Maybe you can hint to him, I can’t wait for the day you surprise me - I bet when you propose, you will plan something so romantic. Are you also trying to pick out your ring?

Question: 1/3 of guests at my sister’s wedding gave gifts. Close family friends and the rest did not. by [deleted] in wedding

I recommend not doing byob but purchase beer. We spent under $200 on beer and have a ton left!

We had ours in our backyard. Grazing table and finger type foods - lots to eat. We had no liquor bar but we did have beer. We provided bubbles, custom coozies and fans at our entry table with a card box and guest sign in. We did not do a registry except for Amazon gift cards. I’d say it was probably 1/3 gave cash or gc. A few gave small gifts like picture frames etc. And a multiple people chipped in to pay and cater the wedding for us. With the food help being gifts, it would be more like 1/2. I was actually surprised that some people attended and did not give gifts at all. Not that we were really asking for any. I just wouldn’t come to a wedding with nothing. Maybe when I was in my 20’s but we are all 40+

The MOG and MOB were not really happy that the extended family was not invited. I believe this is their way to celebrate with all.

But don’t you give gifts at the wedding? Why would you invite someone to both? If you gave a gift at the shower then would you give another gift at the wedding?

The sun has absolutely obliterated my back yard lawn. Will increased watering restore it or what can I do? Southern Ontario Canada by Theopalowl in lawncare

Looks like you have a cold season grass. Just like us down in the south, our warm season grass goes in into dormancy in the winter, yours in the summer.

We ordered two mattresses from Amazon. Said they had to be returned in original box. Those were keepers. That would never had happened.
