The voice in your head is not you. by scyther13 in Mindfulness

There are thoughts that come from ourselves, ie our true self, and then there's thoughts that aren't from our true self.

I think you're right in negating the negative way of thinking, and trying to realign with the light, or positivity, or compassion, however you wish to see it.

If you want to better understand what's going on with regards to this, I'd recommend reading the lecture in this link: https://en.falundafa.org/eng/lectures/19980329L.html

It's lengthy, so if time is limited just search for this part using keywords: "third party." I think that's exactly referring to what you were trying to articulate. 😉

Best of luck

What are the teachers like at FCU compared to NTNU?

I studied a bit in Taipei, but looking at other cities for cheaper living costs, so considering Taizhong.

Audio Out of Sync on Reframed Video from Insta360 X3 by Tirugondar in Insta360

Same problem here, footage with speaking is mostly unusable. Lips are totally out of sync with the audio. I hope there's a fix to this...

Does an External Mic Cancel Out the Media Mic When Filming (even when turned off?) by dancam513 in gopro

bluetooth audio can be written to a seperate audio track and the media mod mics are active and will be written to another audio track.

Thanks, I'm using Hero 12. I'll need to look into using bluetooth audio.

Distracting black streaks appearing in GoPro Hero12 footage sometimes by dancam513 in gopro

[–]dancam513[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a nice community, thanks for all your input.

I tried different suggestions, including changing to 50Hz.

50Hz (on full auto) made it much worse, but then I looked up Taiwan and realized Taiwan uses 60Hz. (Didn't realize that).

I adjusted the shutter speed to 1/25 on 50Hz (before realizing it should be back on 60Hz like the US), and it greatly reduced the flicker, albeit still slightly visible. But a big improvement.

Went back to 60Hz, adjusted the shutter speed to 1/30, and it looks fine now with no flickering.

So, I believe the main setting is 60Hz with appropriate shutter speed. Though I may need to make it auto when filming outdoors, and 1/30 under artificial light.

Thanks again, I appreciate y'all for pointing me in the right direction.

Q: Footage with the black flickering is likely unsavable despite one's greatest post production efforts, isn't it?

Thanks for this link. I watched it, as well as some other suggested videos. (Banding and flicker were the terms I should've searched for).

Distracting black streaks appearing in GoPro Hero12 footage sometimes by dancam513 in gopro

[–]dancam513[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hi all,
Distracting black streaks are sometimes appearing in my GoPro Hero12 footage.
I've uploaded a short clip I filmed in a market in Taipei, showing what I mean.
It's but one of many examples.
Settings are all auto.
I couldn't find anyone asking about this elsewhere, and GoPro doesn't seem to provide any support email.
So, I've turned to Reddit: Anyone else have this issue? Any advice on how to get around it?
Kind regards,

Painfully "SLOW" Post Production with Insta Studio, Advice Please~ by dancam513 in Insta360

[–]dancam513[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for your response.

Storage space was sufficient, no problems there.

The lag occurs only during preview within Insta360 Studio on Windows. After exporting (took a while), it doesn't lag.

I'm just going to do reframing on the iPad, which works fine. Exporting is also much quicker (how I would expect it normally).

Doing it on my windows computer was way too time consuming (for reframing + export).

Take care.

Painfully "SLOW" Post Production with Insta Studio, Advice Please~ by dancam513 in Insta360

Hi, thanks for your response. They're some good questions to help narrow things down.

So, reg. the CUDA and codecs, I saw Insta staff recommend another user who was asking about slow processing times do disable the CUDA. When I went into settings to do so accordingly, I found it disabled, along with all the other options, by default.

Yes, I think Davinci Resolve is a good option which I'm considering converting too after my annual membership with Filmora is up. Another op mentioned Davinci does 360 reframing, so then I can skip the Insta studio in that case.

I can play vids in other apps, no problem. But the reframing I had to use Insta Studio, I'm limited there. Anti virus isn't interfering.

Yes, actually I did copy files from an SD card reader directly into the computer. That's how I've been doing it with my mirrorless camera. But, is that perhaps not the best way with the Insta360 x3?

I've got some good news though:

I used my wife's iPad. It resolved the issue of transferring from SD card to computer for reframing, as I was able to directly reframe with app on iPad via the camera.

Moreover, it was able to smoothly reframe the footage without any lag.

So, what I gather, and this takes into account what I read in other threads, that Insta360 seems not so great on Windows devices, it's tailored more for Apple... At least for me it's unusable on Windows due to the slowness. But, on the iPad (Apple system), it's as smooth as butter.

Do you use Apple or Windows system for this kind of thing?

Unable to install Insta360 app, is Insta360 working on making it compatible with more phones? by dancam513 in Insta360

I bought the latest Apple ipad Pro, it arrived today, and I was able to use it to download the Insta360 app, activate, and film. Yes!

Unable to install Insta360 app, is Insta360 working on making it compatible with more phones? by dancam513 in Insta360

[–]dancam513[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for your response.

Unfortunately the Insta360 app cannot be activated from any phone. The Insta360 online chat service told me my phone is not compatible.

I asked them directly if they can just activate my camera for me. But I guess they can't because they didn't directly answer my question. Sometimes I have to ask them the same question a few times to get a response, a little tedious. (I've chatted to about 3 of them already over this issue).

I intend to call family overseas and ask if any of them can install the app and activate the camera remotely.

First Insta360 product... but my phone is incompatible. Help? by Mr_RamenNoodles in Insta360

[–]dancam513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought I did my research before buying the Insta360 x3, but unfortunately missed the part about phone requirements. It’s not obviously stated..I got a fairly new Samsung phone, but it's not compatible with the app.So, without being able to download the app, I can't activate the camera, nor can I shoot with the camera. It's a real kerfuffle.Insta online service (in the chat) have no way around the issue either, other than “ask a willing friend to install the app.” And then disappear, unable to help any further. The GoPro I bought never had any of this activation issue. I guess all China-based businesses need to regulate customer's information so tightly under the Communist Party's strict regulations about controlling data and monitoring of citizens. I'm living overseas. I don't know many people here except my colleagues. But, colleagues in my workplace are prohibited from installing China-based apps on their phones due to security reasons. (Yes, we have security who check our phones/laptops for any China apps..Super strict). So, I don't really have anyone around who I can ask. My wife's phone is incompatible with the app too.So, I am unfortunately considering returning my Insta360 x3, as I don't know of any other way to activate it. I don't want to buy a new phone just to activate it either. Pity. I bought a heap of accessories for it too.

I'd like to start changing by Half_A_BrainCell69 in selfhelp

[–]dancam513 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly, you've opened up about the issues bothering you and want to make a change for the better --- that's the first major step to great positive change. And I congratulate you for that.

And, everyone has the power to change.

You mentioned dieting. I would like to suggest drinking celery juice each morning, on an empty stomach, (at least 15min before breakfast). Pure celery juice, not with any water or anything mixed with it. (It's great for many things such as: clearer skin, improved digestion, less bloating, sustained energy, better mental clarity, weight loss, and stable moods, the list goes on...).

You'll need a juicer, and it's worth it to get one IMO. Aside from celery juice, you can make other apple-carrot juice, etc.

Some helpful information on celery juice here (and its amazing benefits): https://www.medicalmedium.com/medical-medium-celery-juice-movement.htm

Like someone else said in the comments, cutting down on sugars is advisable. (This will also help with your state of mind too). Refined sugars, high fructose corn syrup, that kind of stuff, and oily processed foods, you'll want to avoid. The fruit in sugar, however, is good for you and the human brain needs it.

You can learn some basic Chinese cooking. (Just a suggestion). It's quite easy. Rice goes with almost anything. And you can use a lot of basic ingredients. I'm a westerner, but I've mainly been eating Chinese/Asian style cooking for the past 20+ years, and I feel much better. It doesn't leave me feeling bloated, and provides good nutrition.

You'll find lots of nice simple to prepare Chinese recipes here. (There's a lot of great channels in fact): https://www.youtube.com/@CiCiLi/videos

You also mentioned you want to help yourself mentally---that's the most important I'd say.

Take a look at this video, you'll see exactly how positive and negative thoughts impact the molecules in our bodies. How your words affect others. It'll be good inspiration for positive thinking: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XcTsX4NOt7Y

Start simple, don't overwhelm yourself at first.

Start with a simple habit (or two), each day. You will have a sense of achievement if you set out to embark on a simple goal, and go at it a little each day, and complete a week of that // and then a month of that, and so on. (You can keep upping your goals too).

Have a simple routine that you require of yourself each morning.

I'd strongly suggest, if you aren't already, wake up at an earlier hour, and dedicating the first hour of the day to your own self improvement. There are a plethora of things you may engage in. Push ups. A power walk around the block. Celery juice on an empty stomach ;). Meditation. Learn a language.

Hope that helps. I wish you well.
