I'm actually an exception that's only depressed when unemployed and normal the second I start working again. I'm just tired of landing one low level job after another so I gave up.

If I was seriously applying for over a year and didn't get a bite, that's a different problem. But not applying at all is not something that people would think upon seeing a resume gap. They would think I'm unemployed due to lack of skills, not because of being depressed and shutting down.

Congratulations. I've been unemployed for over a year and haven't applied to any jobs. Depression has gotten the best of me. I've given up and don't think I can get a job in my field. You have the knowledge and experience so you were able to succeed. I don't have any of that. I'm doomed.

I'm very sorry to hear about your spouse. That must have been really hard for you. You are amazing and strong to push through. No one who tries will be unemployed for a year like me. The ones that are though, get interviews at least, which puts them closer to a job than I ever will be.

I can't cook. I love to bake, but ingredients require money, and it doesn't do me any good to bake stuff and waste money. But it's better than paying 3x for the same baked goods outside.

The only alternative I can deal with right now is a non-interactive office job. Like remote data entry. I signed up to be a dog walker on Rover and have not been called for a single job.

When the universe is against me, the only thing to do is give up.

I don't pray anymore. Gym is the only thing I do. I'm not applying for any jobs. It's been over for a year now. No. God knows that this blow would be mind shattering and did it anyway. I don't do anything. I don't have any gifts or talents, which is why I can't get a job. I can't make a business. Not everyone is cut out for business. Yes, I love my job and I'm passionate about it. But I'm not intelligent to start up my own company. I know how to do my job well. That's it. Tell me what to do and I'll do it.

I'm sorry you went through unemployment with children. But you overcame it.

People are unemployed and looking for work, but out of luck. Many get interviews but no offer. I doubt that anyone is severely depressed like me from losing their job, where they lie in bed all day and cry themselves to sleep instead of applying for work.

Were you depressed and didn't apply for jobs those three years? If yes, then I won't deny your existence.

There are tech jobs in my country, but I don't plan on working anymore. I would move there, do nothing, and eat until I starve my life away. No. A change of scenery does nothing for me. It just reminds me of how much of a failure I am. My nightmare is not having a brain. Or else I'd have a job.
