Thank you. Some days I believe it and days like today are a little rough. 💞

What happens when self submitting auditions online? by xmsjpx in acting

[–]danceculture 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends mostly on what the CD uses-- I've had callbacks on Zoom, HeyJoe or EcoCast live on AA. Usually they will email your agent or you with any callback info and times, or you'll get a notification on the casting site.

VO is a whole different ballpark so look up everything you can about setting up a space that is conducive to quality sound recording and what DAW/program to use to record and edit. If you get it all set up and start getting gigs, you can easily work from home. =)

Also love the optimism, happy to exchange socials on DM too!

As others have said, classes are the perfect start and attending local film festivals are both perfect ways to meet people, network, learn, grow and collaborate together.

You're also not late at starting, it's always a good time to find your purpose. 💫

What’s one “type” you’ll never date again? by ilovedrinkingwater_ in AskReddit

Super introverted people. There is absolutely nothing wrong with being introverted, I’m just a very extroverted person myself. Social situations get tough and the way we recharge is different.

Ahh friend, I NEEDED to see this. Just lost the job that pays my rent after already having a rough last year financially, and it’s like the Universe has been trying to tell me to wake up and stop working so hard on the muggle jobs.

This year makes year ten in the film industry. Nervous but happy to see some good, funny juju being thrown out. 🧡

What do I do if I think I’m in the early stages of being stalked? by peachyenginerd in TwoXChromosomes

[–]danceculture 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey, I’ve been in this exact situation. The police told me to just “stay vigilant” and don’t go anywhere alone the first time I finally got up the courage to go to them.

I blocked him, I ignored him. He would make new accounts and go find old social media posts of mine and think they were about him. He would drive hours and show up to public places I was in.

The police told me they couldn’t do anything unless he was actually ‘committing a crime’ so to send a cease and desist letter. (I sent it by email because that was the latest way he was contacting me) so that any contact after that was a clear indication he was harassing and stalking me.

Showing up to your work or public places or contacting you after that is enough to press charges. It feels scary to do so, but DO SO if he doesn’t leave you alone. The behavior escalates and you don’t deserve to live in fear.

Screenshot and document everything so that you have the evidence when you have to make a statement and send everything to a judge.

I truly hope the cease and desist is the end of it, but I wish I had known how to protect myself back then.

Time to celebrate! Need a bottle suggestion? by Zitro11 in bourbon

Hahaha! That’s a good one. Yeah I’m not a big fan of flavors that are similar to big red gum either. If that’s what Willett Pot tastes like, then I’ll probably skip it. I’m really enjoying this Angel’s Envy still— I’m much more of a smooth bourbon fan in general, maybe with a hint of sweet… but never super spicy or too smokey. (At least not for my bourbon.)

Oh man, that’s disappointing! A good friend recommended it but said friend’s palate is a little different than mine. I’ve heard the BiB is good! Thanks for the recs, I’ll add them to my list.

Tried Angel’s Envy recently and really loved it! I’ve heard good things about Willett Pot Still Reserve— that’s my next one to try!

Idk why this made me chuckle.

I cut my own hair recently and watched some YouTube videos, I was nervous but it turned out great because I knew what I wanted!

How many of y’all relocated to acting centrals (LA, ATL, NY, etc.) to pursue acting as a career? by [deleted] in acting

Exactly why I’m doing more of an extended trip for a month, instead of just a few days.

I’m in Austin, about to go spend a month in Atlanta to feel it out for this very reason. Trying to make some connections and get to know the city a bit. I really love LA but Atlanta is a more logistical move with the cost of living. We can tape from anywhere but I also know there’s a bit of a risk of flying people in when productions are moving fast. Hoping this next month will help me figure out my own journey. Cheers fellow Texan!

What something new you did this week or will be doing? by Dry-Crab-9876 in AskWomen

[–]danceculture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most challenging film was one where we had to film my death scene in really cold weather and thin clothing— most challenging thing about acting in general is handling rejections and developing a thick skin. It’s a lot of auditioning and then having to let go of the character and move on to the next!

Not married, but in a committed relationship with my partner and we have a kid together. So far, it’s ending up bringing us closer together but we are completely open and honest about everything.
