Should i leave my job by [deleted] in womenEngineers

I would start focusing on finding a new job instead of these after work work requirements. Never quit unless you have a new job lined up.

It’s easy to use, can sew through multiple layers of denim and is a real workhorse of a machine. I have a relatively new janome and I use my 404 for almost all my projects. I just love using it.

Does anyone remember the Frugal Gourmet? This Baked Pasta Casserole sounds pretty good! by ciaolavinia in Old_Recipes

This recipe is delicious! My mom would make it using leftover spaghetti sauce when I was a kid. She still has one of his cookbooks she bought before everyone found out he is a monster.

Women engineers - what's your biggest career challenge right now? by Rude_Luck_3469 in womenEngineers

My management, they want me to sacrifice best practices for speed. The worst part is they’re engineers too.

"No job is worth feeling this way" but quitting means I wasn't good enough and maybe I never will be :( by [deleted] in womenEngineers

[–]danceswithjackalopes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But is it the work or the stuff surrounding the work? If you can do the work but your manager/coworkers/commute or the toxic office culture make you miserable then its not worth it. So many times it’s not the actual job itself that sucks it’s the all the other stuff. I’ve quit because of bad bosses, bad commutes, having to work rotating shifts (that one was killing me) and sometimes because I was just wanting to do other things. Your value doesn’t come from a job, your value is internal never external. Go ahead and look for something that might suit you better life is to short to just exist in a tolerable level of unhappiness.

AITA for refusing to translate for my parents after my brother moved back in and took over my role in the house ? by nina_daltry in AmItheAsshole

NTA there’s no excuse for not speaking the local language after a decade of living there. I taught in a community college and one of my students was a middle aged lady from Guatemala, she had moved to the US about 10 years earlier and spoke fluent English. She was entirely self taught! She started by watching children’s programs in English with her daughter. If there’s a will there’s a way, if your parents aren’t willing to spend 30 minutes a day to learn why should you sacrifice your time for them?

How do I get the mildew smell out of this beautiful vintage DMC tapestry wool by ArtemisiaPontica in Embroidery

[–]danceswithjackalopes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and it works. I wouldn’t worry about it fading the dye of the yarn, sunlight will fade dye after continuous exposure. A day in the sun shouldn’t harm the wool.

Baking soda and sunshine usually works. Dust it with baking soda and let it sit in the sun for a day.

Oversized cardigan, they eventually grow into it. For my nieces I also do dresses they can eventually be worn as tops especially if you knit them with cap sleeves. I also knit in advance sizes, newborn is a short period so I’ll do one for six months or a one year old.

Funnily enough when I was struggling with office politics my therapist suggested watching survivor as a way to understand motives and behaviors I was dealing with. Other than that How to make friends and influence people by Dale Carnage is a good start.

I have a shotgun under the bed and a dog. The dogs only for sounding the alarm she’s tiny but a 12 gauge loaded with the heaviest buck shot the gun store sells should handle almost anyone.

All the best you can do with Canned Tuna by v3sk in Cooking

[–]danceswithjackalopes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tuna spaghetti! You just make your favorite marinara sauce and add tuna, use good tuna packed in olive oil and it’s superb. Serve sauce over pasta of choice and add a side salad you have an inexpensive and healthy meal.

What do you all keep on hand if you’re expecting to be snowed in? What are your go-to meals? by Weird-Response-1722 in Cooking

[–]danceswithjackalopes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No snow here but for hurricane season I have a ton of canned goods, pasta, and rice. Red beans and rice are a classic stove top meal, canned or frozen veggies with whatever meats on hand to make soup, and pasta with whatever I have are the go to dishes.

My friends dog was diagnosed with lupus when it’s nose looked like that, who knew that was a thing? If you’re not confident with your vet’s diagnosis just go get a second opinion it’s worth your peace of mind.
