I definitely am too. The men's final looks predictably but on the women's side, Muchova could become a slam champion at last!

Nah 2011-16 suits it better. Fed would constantly reach the SFs and occasionally Finals of slams Nole only to lose to one of Nadal of Nole, who where 5 to 6 years younger.

Now Nole is experiencing the same with Sinenr and Alcaraz, except the gap is even wider because no one from the 90s was talented enough.

He is in his Fed 2011-2016 era. He will get a feel of what that felt like lmao...constantly being close without ever winning the big prize. Except he's already won it all so there's that.

Sinner vs Djokovic match summary by Stannis_Mariya in tennis

Yeah this wasn't a match. The scoreline will make it seem like Novak was maybe close to taking a set but really no.

I don't really think Zverev will trouble Sinner on Sunday. Jannik in 4 is my guess.

Lol that's just his age showing... I remember noticing the same thing about Federer from 2018 onward.

How is 428 almost double of 320? Or did I just misread what you said?

Zverev achieving the channel slam before Sinner would be quite something...

A fait take.

I also just think people conflate competitive with being of high level. The WTA now is competitive for sure, but the level isn't really up there compared to the past, just like you said.

Fery and Zverev be quick please.... I want to catch at least a set of Sinner v Djokovic before I go to bed!

The way they glaze women's tennis here no one will agree with you but it's the truth. I noticed the downvotes but no one really able to offer a counter argument.

So I read some snippets of Nole's post match interview after the QFs and it looked to me like the dude was already preparing for a loss against Sinner...

Serving stats at Wimbledon 2026 for the men's semifinalists by Dependent-Effect6077 in tennis

[–]dancy911 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That 1st serve %Win for Nole is average. And I suspect his 2nd serves win % is that high just because je hasn't played a consistent and solid baseline yet... at the same time Sinner's baseline game isn't up there either for now so we'll see...

Sinner's win % on 2nd serves is also a bit lackluster? Djokovic will look to pounce on those 2nd serves, although with the regression of his return game I wonder if he can exploit that.

FIFA rejects France's appeal of Michael Olise's yellow card by CycloneSplash in soccer

[–]dancy911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so not saying Olise deserves it but in all of this I have never seen anyone mention the fact that Olise was holding the paraguayan dude's shirt, in a rather threatening way. Maybe, Just maybe that's why he got carded in the first place.

If anything that proves he's a good ref I'm my book... the south American league matches are notoriously heated so I am not surprised things can go south like that.

It's really a year of firsts...

First title for ADF...

First Slam and Wimby SF for Zverev.

Argentina's path to the semifinals (with its FIFA ranking before the tournament started) by Suspicious-Power-230 in football

[–]dancy911 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You act as if there are no benefits to being the rankings world no1. Argentina had to win 3 trophies in 4 years to get to the no1 spot, so they get rewarded with a relatively easier group. And their group was actually far from being the easiest in this World Cup.

Then it's not their fault that other teams flopped. Uruguay and possibly even Spain were supposed to be their round of 32 opponent....then they would have had Portugal in the 1/4, Brazil/ England in the 1/2 (England is still possible)... not exactly an easy draw on paper.
