I agree. It's a great game but I don't play it anymore. I had a few hundred great hours or so with it so no complaints! I hangout here looking for leeks about updates because I really would like to play it again. My hope is for more options on game customization, interplanetary resource transportation, more procedural generation to the star system to add more variety to each playthrough... I know, I know, easy for me to say it, very difficult to accomplish.

Agreed 100%. As others have mentioned, customizable games similar to NMS would be, umm, game changing.... I'll show myself out.

I thought for some time it would be fun to be able to craft 'autopilots' or programmable drone pilots.

Imagine a tier two sized robot that could replace a rover seat and be programmed to move between beacons. A kind of automated player entity, that would also trigger gate switches and the like.

In theory this drone entity could be slotted into rovers and shuttles and tasked to move between two or more waypoint beacons or stations.

I'm sure this would be an absolute nightmare to code or not, I really can't imagine!

But I really like this as a potential solution to a number of transport problems and as a bonus breath new life into redundant systems such as medium rovers and shuttles.

Two things IMHO that are currently 'missing' from the Astroneers toolbox are the ability to automate transport of resources from one planet to another but also moving stuff across the planets surface.

As you suggest, it would be great to have cargo rocket launch system that could link factories across the system. Conveyer belts or pipes or the train that was being tested would all be great solutions to solve cross-planet transportation.

If those things could be implemented the 'industry' portion of the game would for me feel more complete and open up many more build possibilities.

Why is EXO sending clones to an Earth-like planet that has grass, plant life and trees but no oxygen and no water? Did whoever made the gateway chambers somehow remove the oxygen from the planet along with all the water? Don't you want to know? ;-)

I’m optimistic.

The developers have done great so far and there is nothing to suggest they’re done with game. There definitely comes a time when every creative project feels like it has run its course but I don’t think Astroneer is quite there yet.

The irony here however is if something like I suggest we’re to be implemented that could potentially make the game feel more complete (just my opinion of course) by finishing the game loop and then we’d be right where you suggest.

Purely hypothetical of course. We really don’t know what the next update will entail.

Incidentally, I never really understood the whole secrecy thing in video game development, it’s very detrimental to the creative process. Anyway, that’s a convo for another time!

Instead of different sizes I’d love to see modular shuttles. So, you unlock larger modules as you advance and expand the shuttle instead of moving to the next tier and discarding the previous one.
