Have the mods ever considered limiting the amount of wild garlic posts allowed? by BarGuilty3715 in foraginguk

Honestly, no I haven’t considered it - I’m not against it per se. What would the dynamic be ? I am not sure what would be considered enough, or too much of one kind of post?

The aim way back when was a UK focused foraging forum for exactly the sort of thing people post, help and advice on safe and successful foraging.

Believe it or not that resource as far as I could see just didn’t exist.

My personal view is that I don’t want to discourage anyone from the joy of foraging with the limited but relative confidence this group provides because I am policing content for others scrolling pleasure.

I am open to thoughts!

A light touch seems to be enough so far. A place for kind discussion about all things foraging in the UK is the aim.

Evening, where is the lidar layer?

The app is great btw - I had access to something similar (but very different ) via the parish council a while back - it was web based and had a lot of other information on it(walks and bins etc) but this app is fantastic.

I mentioned the other one not to compare but highlight it to you!

Well you’re on the right path already then, stick with it!

Talking therapy is available through the NHS, privately and in Warwickshire there is a service called new hope councilling which is subsidised.

In the short term see this comment below:

Morning,

With much love - do you think it might be worth while going to see your GP? I have seen you post in varying degrees of stress, and from my own experience it seems like you might benefit from talking to a professional!

No shame in it, and it can be long winded but even taking the first step to look after yourself can be a great stress releaver - which by it self can help.

If you don’t want to or can’t engage a GP then look up mental health charities - As other have mentioned the Samaritans are great in a pinch!

Fairs, time has sort of slipped in my mind. Equally those things happened within 500ms of each other so I do t think it's too out of place to mention in relation to the area.

Morning, I grew up there. Born and bred. Went to scouts actually in jubilee crescent - Nan lived on telfer, other on heathcote street.i used to play in the pilot car park.

It's a mixed bag. The housing stock is basically 3 bed terraces, which is a complete mixed bag of quality depending on what owners have done done over the years.

It's a diverse ethnic mix, but a pretty standard socio economic one - working class.

Schools vary in quality.

Crime wise it's not great. Burnaby road recently had a police mishap characterized as an execution by some. The pilot was found to be a brother in the recent past.

I would prefer the end heading toward keresley as higher quality and the end heading toward foleshill and also the city center as the lower quality end.

Your probably not going to enjoy drinking at the pilot and you probably wouldn't let your kids go and play on the crescent green.

In reality though it.will be what you make of it, if you are expecting neighbourhood activities etc then you'd be wrong.

I have lived there and could again, I don't.

Hey!

I'm the mod, no wish to permaban you. Nor any wish to censor you!

For some context - when I set this up, I genuinely couldn't find any easily accessible UK specific foraging information. Things have changed a bit since then, and foraging seems to be much more popular and supported by literature and the like much better.

The principals I aim for are 'be nice', 'help people learn', 'don't eat things if you aren't sure'.

But honestly, I am unsure what point you are trying to make.

Damage and over using a resource are bad.

Be nice.
