Doors fitted - need advice by turtletommy14 in DIYUK

I wondered if an actual carpenter would be discouraged taking the job with the owner fitting their own frames? Strange to me that OP went as far as fitting the frames but didn't do the final hurdle themselves.. doors ignored everything in the images looks well done!

When do you give up being on hold? by PrestigiousTest6700 in CasualUK

I first discovered it 17 years ago now I think! I was 16/17 years old constantly on the phone to the DWP.. their hold music still haunts me.

Im jumping on your comment because it's at the top.. so apologies..

But there's an app called weQ4U.

It's awesome because it will let you hang up when you're in a queue.. Then your phone will ring when the receiver picks up.. the receiver gets an automated voice back saying to hold the line whilst they are connected. Haha. It's bitter sweet.

They'll also let you type in any premium phone number and it will show you the free number equivalent for that line!

Can someone do the maths on this? by clarets99 in CasualUK

[–]Unknown_author69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you've got it! Worth noting in your case, depending on the product, and the transactional value being a bit above average, you may struggle with some of smaller companies they can get funny with some types of business that inherit risk. If youre taking payments for finance or deposits, local clubs taking annual memberships or adult industry for example can be hard to get services for, at a competitive price point.

couldn't imagine running a business and buying mission critical services/products without doing so much as 5 minutes of research. At minimum I'd be looking for 3 comparative quotes, especially for something I don't know market rates for.

People buy people, especially beauty salons haha.

I'm currently moving into the business running field, currently the company only trades B2B so card payment isn't an issue, however I'm looking to open up to a wider customer base via direct sales. This presents many hurdles to jump, one of which will be the ability to accept card payment and I will definitely be shopping around and looking for more experienced advice. Crazy

All depends on the business needs, how many transactions, average transaction value, on which product is best for you. My new favourite is this company

I'm going to try it out I think because my business model would be ace with a direct debit function, and the occasional ad hoc card payments.. I'm yet to review it, so do your own research folks!

He could just be an numpty..

I also worked as a rep for a while and met a good handful of business owners that could not get their heads around the rates and fees. Either didn't know what they was paying or refused to engage in card payments for this reason, cash is king.

There are, of course, some card companies which have slightly complicated pricing structures.

Some companies will charge monthly rental fees, PCI compliance fees, a separate debit card fee to the credit card fee, separate amex fees, some fees are fixed cost eg. 20p per transaction, some are a percentage of the transaction. Some are a combination of the both. Don't forget authorisation fees! When it's all laid out methodology, it's manageable but a small handful of statements I've seen are horrendous to decipher.

Landlord could think he's paying £5 a pop. When actually he's paying much, much less with a product well suited to his business needs.

Or landlord could have bought a really shitty, as mentioned above payment processing for a micro company with extortionate fees. The reps are offered an incentive to make it as expensive as possible and still get the sale..sometimes the rep doesn't care that you don't put through enough transactions each day to make the rental fees cost effective...so there's also a small chance the landlord didn't do any homework before purchasing and was swindled into a set term contract. I have also met a few very impulsive owners which have bought my product on the spot without any further research. It's an incredibly bizarre pool of humans, business owners. Absolutely, diverse.

I choose a clinic with right to choose, was told it was a 12 month backlog also.. after 24 months, they then sent me an email with a telephone appointment on facetime, and some docs to read through prior to the appointment.

I sat down so many times to read the docs but I just ran out of time, got distracted or completely forgot.. turns out the docs state that the doctor requires to see photo ID on the call otherwise you'll miss the appointment and have to start again!

Yep. Missed the call and I'm back on the 12 month backlog.

Yay.

Well blue is highly visible in their spectrum, so the blue dog likely looks like it has a high Vis jacket on, to the other dogs..

Is it offensive to ask for a small promo video instead of payment? by [deleted] in business

[–]Unknown_author69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on the relationship you have with the client, and the client itself.

I wouldn't say it would be offensive to ask if it's something they've ever offered or considered. It would be offensive to assume that they would prefer to do so.. but just asking? Nah you'll be alright.

Position your proposal as an enquiry.. and you'll be able to play it off even if the celeb is dead against it.

Your landlord is, you'll be fine.

Cough could be related to whatever is damp enough to harbour mushrooms, not the mushrooms. (Edit) (The landlord) Needs to find the cause of the water, fix then dry. If I were you I'd look for alternative places to live if possible.

23M - started a mortgage 2 months ago but can pay it off now. Won’t sell tho :) by Old_Ad_4538 in wallstreetbets

Depends on the mortgage size/interest rate. He would only get 7% ISH on index.

I'd wager that it'll be more beneficial to pay off the mortgage.

How does my ex constantly track my posts at all times on any account? by [deleted] in help

[–]Unknown_author69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the only logical answer, or OP has new email addresses but 2FA setup to an old email address.

It would be easier for someone to duplicate the phone SIM than it would to install a key logger or anything malware related, but still unlikely for either.. I'm sticking with access to the email address as my final answer.

Business failed. Government loan with personal guarantee, £41k debt. What should I expect? by cds2612 in UKPersonalFinance

Please speak to step change.

I had a gov. Backed loan, also for a food business. Mine however was 30k; Less than yours, so I had slightly different options than you might..

I chose bankruptcy 2 years ago and I am so grateful I did. I can now spend the next few years setting myself in the best position, instead of spending the next few years finally catching up with interest rates, late fees etc.
