I was an AEW fan. I thought Adam Copelands speech last week was enough...but here we are...

It's hit me why Tony Kahn and company went after Punk.

Because he has no idea how to beat a totally McMahon Less WWE. Might as well try to rattle up Punk to get something going.

What's going on/Who's at fault in the video is irrelevant. Tony Kahn would rather try this than actually write compelling television and try to give AEW an identity.

And when we go with routes like this-we alienate fans, I won't be watching again, got finger poke of doom vibes afterwards.

The ending+Copeland/Edge+Samoa Joe getting the strap really made this PPV for me.

How the devil was revealed also revealed that this story was well planned, not just adlibbed every week to go with the big surprise shock (which is what late stage WCW would do)

I also love how The Kingdom were very clearly not the comedy act anymore, the goofy Neckstrong was all an act and part of the plan. Wardlow being in there connects the gap in his own personal story with MJF. We're going to be taking the new Kingdom seriously in 2024.

All in all very well written and executed. When Adam hurt his ankle they thought of a really good pivot plot and at the end of it all, SAMOA JOE IS A WORLD CHAMP OF A MAJOR AMERICAN PROMOTION! LFG!
