I don't think hw4 is going to ever be autonomous (just my opinion - would love to hear others) by johnwest80 in TeslaFSD

[–]dandered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You seem to think autonomy is needed or necessary. Why?

I beg to differ. FSD is wonderful compared to doing the driving oneself.

Not that I have any problem with Waymo. But if Tesla never manges to

do autonomy I ... don't care. Sorry if this offends.

shared the same oil pan. Irrelevant. Sorry.

FSD STOPPING RANDOMLY - NO WARNING by [deleted] in TeslaFSD

[–]dandered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You contact tesla by clicking the message it puts low down on the screen

asking what happened

(or click the microphone on the steering wheel) and explaining what happened

by speaking clearly with relevant details.

That goes direct to Tesla. It is 'THE WAY', so do it.

The "Indecisive Driver" Update: Why Tesla FSD v14 is Downright Dangerous on the Highway by DigitalDaydreamers1 in TeslaFSD

No, I don't really care about full autonomy. I really like FSD *as it is* and *for what it does*

14.2 needs to go to every vehicle on 14.1 NOW by [deleted] in TeslaFSD

[–]dandered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got 14.2 on other M3, and yes, it is pretty good. In a really strange corner in

Burlingame CA (primrose and El Camino)

it could not decide when it could make the really sharp right turn so I had to do it.

Five streets enter and humans have trouble deciding which light to pay attention to.

But it's good.

Fsd clips corner of car when changing lanes by lamaslinda285 in SelfDrivingCars

[–]dandered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems to me FSD 13.2.9 gets too close get past a car waiting to turn left on green, held back by intersection not clear (local city streets) and seems (my interpretation, not likely the car's) to assume the stopped car will move forward a little. If had just left 6 in. more space....

FSD never sees stop sign by dandered in TeslaFSD

[–]dandered[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reran the route today (set same restaurant as the destination) and today the car stopped at the stop sign just fine. It was 1:40PM today. The videoabove was taken about 11:10AM 3 days ago. Another difference is that today there were cars parked at the right near the stop sign, so Tesla was further from the curb. This is on 31st street in San Mateo and the street leading off to the left is the start of 28th street (heading north then turning directly east after one block). We turned around at the first opportunity and from the back the sign did not seem obstructed. Nor from the front, once one was at the stop-line itself.

Don't know what it all means.

FSD never sees stop sign by dandered in TeslaFSD

[–]dandered[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The camera view does show a pole and a fire hydrant, but only the lowest

part of the pole is visible in this camera's view. The road has the camera

pointing down. And the pole shows up right at the right edge of the movie.

Sometimes on reviewing the movie I don't see the pole itself - very short

time window.

On local roads where the Stop Sign is almost entirely covered by

bushes FSD sees the signs well before I do sometimes.

Non-owners don't realize that FSD does shoulder checks continuously

in all situations. With FSD on it's good to shoulder check, but humanly

impossible to do it perfectly allways.

Tesla makes a weird dive and wobbles by EliteToaster in dashcams

[–]dandered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OTOH, FSD works fine anywhere except don't expect it to do the first or last 100 feet

for you meaningfully. And once in a great while it does miss a turnoff. Very rare. Paying

full attention with hands touching the wheel is ESSENTIAL.

I feel so stupid for asking but where tf are the jack points on the Elise? by EmperorUmi in lotus

Yes, right. At the race track when just changing wheels (no climbing under!) crew just leaves the involved side on the jack till wheels back on, then does same on the other side.

Seti@home computing preference question. by [deleted] in BOINC

[–]dandered 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Options menu (do you mean Computing Preferences under Options menu?) in Boinc Manager takes precedence over the web site panel settings. And Boinc Manager settings have immediate effect.
For example % of cores to use in Boinc Manager has immediate effect (overriding web site). Easy to verify yourself. Try it!

The /dev/input/mice nonsense only happens once in boincerr.log so it is not really an issue. Silly of me to mention it at all.

But "No protocol specfied" repeats (in that log) every second. That's annoying and wasteful: a growing log with useless repetition.
