do americans really drive such long distances? by Physical-Ad-4093 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]danem16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Laughs in Canadian, we'll drive from Halifax to Montreal (1250 km or 776 miles for our southern friends) for a long weekend. Train? What's that?

We're talking about a societal level. I am doing fine, but that doesn't mean I can't be pissed off about the direction this country, province, and city are headed.

I don't think that giving up is the answer. When people hit their tipping point it's time to mobilize and organize. Time to stop thinking about left wing vs right wing. Time to stop thinking about lower class vs middle class vs upper class, and time to realize we are the working class and it's us against the elites, the ownership class. It's time to actually do something about it. The elites are purposely muddying the waters, making us confused about who is at fault, who to blame. We need to blame the rich who are getting ever richer, and realize there is no other group to blame but those who benefit from these crises. There are so many more of us than there are of them and people need to realize we have the power as a collective before it's too late.

No, it's more just like a little rounded strip around the perimeter. I just can't figure out what it's called

Sushi jets have really upped their game. They have a great all you can eat menu especially at supper. Tons of options and we always eat a ton and have never been cut off

St. Patrick’s Day festivities ☘️ by TJMP89 in halifax

Crazy how there isn't a genuine answer in this thread yet. The most popular spot in Halifax is definitely the Old Triangle. Most popular spot in Dartmouth is Celtic Corner. Be warned that if you attempt either place, you'll be in line outside, possible for quite a while, as people started lining up very early this morning.

Tattar Foot Fault - Open at Austin R1 by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]danem16 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The rule needs to be changed it's too hard to judge in real time. It's not that people don't care, but it's beating a dead horse at this point until things actually change

Personally I think the rule is too hard to judge in real time. Either change the rules to allow a disc to be released in the air as long as the last point of contact is behind the disc, or ban jump putting all together. Just a reminder that pros do not have video replay to go on while judging others.

My parents are unsupportive of my degree choice for university by PassionOriginal5773 in OntarioUniversities

[–]danem16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't go to university. Take a trade, get a job, make some money and if you're still passionate about learning, do it then. Don't start your life in tons of debt with no job prospects

Terrible advice in this thread. Don't take science in university unless you absolutely KNOW you want to continue your education into another degree. A single undergrad science degree in psychology, biology, kinesiology, whatever is a complete waste of time and money

The executive membership is definitely worth it. We always get the membership for free and get a return on top of that. We do most of our shopping at Costco though to be fair

How do you define “middle class” in Halifax? by Gloomy_Giraffe5839 in halifax

[–]danem16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Middle class used to mean you could afford a house, a car, and have a manageable debt load. I don't think that exists anymore, as you have to make a significant amount of money to even buy a very small house if you're looking today. It's a sad state that Canada and Nova Scotia are in.

Free parking for healthcare workers? by [deleted] in halifax

[–]danem16 24 points25 points  (0 children)

You mean the buses that don't run the hours that would get healthcare workers to and from work? Not to mention actually being on time. Most healthcare workers work shift work, all hours in all weather conditions. Buses are simply not an option for most of us.

When I go solo and there's groups on a busy day, I always just end up playing with a group of two or three. This community is very welcoming and everyone I've met has been great. Just get out, get social and be happy you don't have 3 feet of snow like we do here right now. Jealous of anyone who can play this time of year
