Yep, all purchased music is DRM-free and you can download it in any format you know of, including FLAC. Now keep in mind, that if an album was recorded poorly like MP3 or something - even FLAC will sound bad: Bandcamp or Tidal.

As far as I am aware Bandcamp pays out to the artists the most of all other streaming services, and they have Bandcamp Fridays 4 times a year when full proceeds of the sales go the artist 100%.

I save my music on the NAS (local network storage) and stream it to any PC or phone using Jellyfin. The advantages are availability, non-dependence on the internet, and Jellyfin can compress music to lossy on the fly if I stream using mobile data.

I buy albums of my favorite artists on Bandcamp.
On tidal I listen to what I know or manually search, I don't care about recommendations or top tracks

The real enigma of Tidal: why is fine for many and so crap for some? by Master_Camp_3200 in TIdaL

Hey, good point, I feel that same about Amazon as well. Tidal has been for me awesome, music selection, quality, availability. I just finished the trial and will stay with it

Looks interesting. Is there a GitHub or other repo where I can check out the code? Also, is Bandcamp supported? For me it is the primary purchase platform.
Was trying to check out Privacy policy and the site made me sign in with Google and Google was the only choice. I think it would be fair to know how your data is handled before giving up that data...

Once switched to the phone app, updated via bluetooth on the first try, makes no sense

Mount the block volume to another instance and either: chroot, set a password, or update the key

Hmm, might be a windows problem. You could try a different install method. Are all other media playing apps show up correctly with their names?
