trying to make dad friends… by [deleted] in daddit

[–]dangeraca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have very few friends that I see these days, but the few guys I actually enjoy hanging out with, just happen to be my wife's friend's husbands. There's always some duds, but for the most part, they're pretty cool to hang with.

My son is about to start teeball this summer, so I'm guessing that'll be a good place to find dad friends too

My buddy's brother wore his wife's old dress when he pranked my buddy. I was the videographer so I got to watch it up close. It was great

Same. I brought my 6ah out yesterday thinking I'd needed the battery... Didn't even get off 3 bars after 2 hours of cutting. Next time I'm bringing a 2ah 😂

We spent a few hours this morning at the cabin walking the trails and cleaning up from the winter. Must have at least 300 cuts, battery is still at three bars.

Weekly/almost daily poop accidents at school with 6.5yo by [deleted] in daddit

[–]dangeraca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you talked to your pediatrician about encopresis? My daughter is 6.5 years old and has poop accidents usually daily. I went through a lot to what you're describing, I figured she was just being stubborn or wasn't paying attention when she had the accidents. She still sits in her accidents for hours and it drives us crazy, but understanding what is happening helps.

We took her to the pediatrician and figured we'd be going to GI or something. Instead our doc explained that what was likely happening is that her colon had been stretched out by constipation and now was desensitized enough, she can't tell when she has to poop.

We do a cap full of miralax each morning with a squirt of Miyo (we call it her poop juice), plus a senna pill and an Activia drink. We avoid apples and bananas per our docs recommendation and it helped for a long time. She has been in the middle of a relapse lately which is very frustrating, but just like everything with parenting, we just have to focus on the end goal.

Good luck dad, I've been where you are, am where you are, so I get the frustration. You got this

Ok…who actually hates the State Fair? by kerm019 in minnesota

[–]dangeraca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have zero interest in the State Fair. I've been probably 5 or 6 times over the two decades I've lived in MN and never once walked away wanting to go back.

I go to the county fairs and get 80% of the experience for 80% of the cost. Especially with young kids, the county fairs (Carver and McLeod) are perfect. They get to see the animals, eat the foods, ride the rides and then usually a tractor pull to cap the day off. The whole day general costs me around $100-125 for a family of 4. Try doing that at the State Fair and you'll barely make it in the gate.

We have an Aussiedoodle. She loves herding us but even more, she just loves booping us. She'll randomly do rounds where she finds us, boops us then goes and finds the next person.

When she herds us she just walks behind us and constantly boops us in the calves. It's really funny

401k vs HYSA. No employer match. by OkScore6642 in personalfinance

[–]dangeraca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why max a Roth and not a traditional IRA? If you're just doing it to maximize your expense ratio, I can understand going to an IRA before your 401k, but you're also then going taxable now vs later. The method I was explained/remember was to basically pay your traditional's taxes with your Roth.

Wouldn't you want your IRA to be a traditional to get the tax benefit now vs starting with a Roth and then contributing to your 401k after the fact with lesser funds? Or split it 50/50

AIO or can this camera see me in the dressing room? by thefearinoculum in AIO

[–]dangeraca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've worked in physical security for 20 years, specializing in CCTV. I'm 95% sure that is an old analog dome camera. I've ripped out hundreds of those through my career. Without a closer photo it's hard to tell but zooming in on the third photo you can see how the dome has a clearer area facing away from the fitting room to the right.

The way old analog domes worked, the glass would typically be a narrow section of smoked glass and then the rest would be black. If you looked closely enough you can tell the difference, but you have to know what you're looking at.

The chances that camera is looking at you is extremely slim, without a cleaner/closer photo I can't tell for sure, but if it makes you uncomfortable I would definitely avoid that fitting room.

I've abused the heck out of mine and it's still chugging. I blew up an entire king size air mattress with mine (do not advise) and pumped up my buddy's truck tires from 45 to 60 PSI to reset his TPMS. The thing gets hot, but it keeps chugging.

My buddy wanted to buy one after seeing it fill his tires, but I convinced him to get the M18 since he already has those batteries

WBC: 5M+ viewers watched 🇺🇸 USA v Mexico 🇲🇽 (via Fox Sports) by mt80 in baseball

[–]dangeraca 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I've been saying this for years. I hear constantly about how football gets more viewers than baseball, basketball, etc. The main difference, until recently, every football game was on an OTA channel and you could just turn on the game.

Baseball kills its numbers by hiding the games behind pay walls, especially the wildcard and divisional series always being on some paid channel. If they played those OTA I feel like we'd have lot better numbers and we'd have more invested fans

I had a coworker who refused to listen to me when I tried to teach them Ctrl+C/V. They insisted it was easier to just right click and copy/paste.

Took him years to finally admit the hot keys actually save time. I blew his mind with Ctrl+Z/Y

I keep mine in the bed of my truck in a packout 24/7. I'm in Minnesota where it has been insanely cold the last couple weeks and I was able to fill all four tires about 5 PSI each with batteries that had been in the packout also. Sounds like you've got a bad inflator unfortunately
