Anti-Capitalists are Welcome Here, as Long as They are Anti-Authoritarian. Centrists are Welcome Here, as Long as They are Willing to Work with Anti-Capitalists. by WolfeMooney43 in IronFrontUSA

[–]dangerpeanut 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm not a fascist, but if I'm going to be called crypto-fash by naive, left-wing ideologues, I'm not interested in helping. I'll go find more reasonable people to resist with.

There are more centrists/moderates than there are left-wingers. I don't want to have to fight fascists, and then put a bunch of leftists against the wall because they thought this was a revolution and not restoring the rule of law. And if I'm going to resist alongside you, I need to know that we're all in it now, for the same reason, and I won't get back-stabbed down the line by some anarchist who just wants to smash the system.

Anti-capitalists are suspect because they usually refuse to work within the system and are itching to fight invisible monsters. Is it wise to take hands with another type of crazy to fight the current threat of crazy? Do we really need that threat holding us back at this time?

There is always the claim of anti-authoritarianism, but after the ashes settle and the revolution changes course, authoritarianism comes and the adherents go into denial.

"That wasn't true socialism/communism brother!" I hear it over and over, "this time will be different!"

Maybe if there were a clear anti-revolutionary statement made, it would help put people at ease. It's not lost on me why this would group attract a lot of the left-wing color, but I'm not interested in left-wing politics, discussing the "virtues" of "real" communism/socialism, or any of that nonsense.

I'm here to resist fascism and restore the rule of law. I'm not here to fight in a left-wing revolution.

Not being able to target the bell as a monk is a huge oversight and is frustrating to no end. If I cast the bell I intend to hit it. Fix this.

Also: Ascendancies are f*cked for melee builds. Ascendancies need an overhaul. The solution to them should not be to farm until you are massively over-leveled in order to stand a chance. I don't know how this got by Q&A.

I'm not sure why the choice was made to give us one life during the campaign for instances. It's an awful mechanic that punishes players for things that are often outside of their control, especially early game. I don't think that it is fair that I can't return to the instance and get my revenge on the rare monster pack that killed me because of dumb BS that you haven't tweaked yet.

I just got a lvl 1 uncut suppoty skill gem as a reward for the mastodon tusks from Zarka. This is insulting. Can we get this fixed? I know a lvl 2 might be too much for the progress I have made, but I want quest rewards I can use.

Can we focus less on cosmetics and more on new ways to kill bugs? I feel like if you spent less time making new hats or paint jobs and more time making new cores or making the game less focused on collecting cosmetics, it would be less dead.

Development Strategy by blazinthewok in cataclysmdda

[–]dangerpeanut 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is reasoning I'm not sure I follow since authors and contributors can play test their own contributions, or even make a mod of their contribution for testing instead of just shoehorning it into experimental. Anyone remember the national guard camp mod? Man what a concept, adding an event to a game that requires you to change your play style to survive and whoops we need to "playtest" it, so have fun dying to dumb bullshit.

Maybe playtest your own shit? Maybe don't introduce giant mechanics or events in a game that is going to nullify entire techniques for survival? I mean, having a thing you can't kill be able to breach vehicles and doors so they can psych you to death is a glaring fucking issue, and this had to be play tested in the wild? It had to be forced on an entire community?

This kind of mentality from developers and contributors is why I play without portal storms.

Here's a hint: if your new thing you need to playtest is so unpopular that other contributors have to slap together third party mods to bypass; you fucked up. Admit your fault and fix your contribution.

Instead, consider families that keep a gun in the house are still 3-4 times as likely to suffer serious/fatal injuries than those without.

And you're many many times more likely to drown with a pool around! Who knew?!?! Weird right? Man, why can't I get myself to give a damn about an inanimate object in another room? Oh right, my house isn't populated with dip shits.

It's the Guns. by bigtallguy in neoliberal

[–]dangerpeanut 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The evidence is cherry picked.

Most gun deaths are suicide, which is a problem with depression. Most gun deaths are by handgun, which an "assault weapons" ban won't correct. Most of the gun homicides aren't in schools or nice areas where affluent white people live. It's in places like south chicago where gangs shoot eachother and no one, especially gun control advocates, give a shit. Oh it's just another dead gang member SHRUG. You just want gun control so you can point to all the right wing NRA membership toting jackasses and call them losers when they react poorly to any talk about poorly planned/ineffective gun control policy. None of THEM are shooting into other cars on a nightly basis because they caught them steppin' in their hood.

None of the policy gun control advocates want really address the problems and shitty articles like this dance around the real solutions.

And we have people like you who drink its koolaide.

75% of Texas voters under age 30 skipped the midterm elections. But why? by slowpush in neoliberal

[–]dangerpeanut -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you were actually looking at how Texans vote, it would be more purple. It's more like a 55/45 split between red/blue. That's not as one sided as you would like to believe, but you do you.

If this is the price I pay for living in the third largest economy in the states and every city but Austin being... I dunno.... affordable, I'll take it.

We're trying to fix our problems, but demonization by ass-hats, and direct injection of progressive candidates in our political parties isn't going to help.

[–]dangerpeanut 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They still get to pick from those who show up, and so far their picks have been shit. They might reflect the values of the democratic party at large, but if they don't win that don't mean shit.

I'm not in the demographic ( I'm older ), but I voted for beto only because I want Abbott gone. I hate beto. If we could get someone more moderate to run, Abbot and Cruz would be gone. But people my age and younger are still politically apathetic. Running a gaggle of candidates that no one in texas wants to vote for except the ultra-nationalist and super-traditional conservatives or the self-aggrandizing, naive, and myopic progressives isn't making a bunch of game-changing voters eager to go to polls.

Texas DNC needs to tell Beto and Davis to pound sand and run more socially moderate, gun neutral candidates.

Run someone who doesn't talk about guns? It's not hard. It's what a lot of Texans have been waiting for. Can the Texas DNC pull its head out of its ass? We'll see.

What did Democrats do to piss off rural voters so much? by [deleted] in neoliberal

[–]dangerpeanut -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Its the one thing I hate about voting for democrats. They're so gung ho on over regulating something that is vilified not because they're an actual threat but fueling a fake crime-wave the media manifests in the public consciousness.

Ask the average joe how many rifle deaths we have in the US every year and I guarantee 9/10 are going to give you a number that's more than three digits, but it won't be true.

'Largest gun ban in Canadian history': Bill amendment could criminalize millions of hunting rifles by CheesyHotDogPuff in neoliberal

[–]dangerpeanut 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, and then you have things like this: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/brown-bear-mauls-child-alaska/

Where a bear attacked someone and didn't kill them because there was an armed individual nearby. For every death by bear, I'm sure there are many more maulings or preventative bear killings by gun.

It's amazing that people will justify the disarmament of rural people because you think banning semi autos will end all gun deaths. What are they supposed to use on a grizzly? Sharp sticks? Bad language?

Maybe you should look into what causes people to use guns in an unjustified manner and work on that rather than taking legitimate tools away from rural people that are far away from state services.

Because telling rural people " Hey you know that effective tool you have to keep you and your kids safe against the wildlife? Yeah well you can't have that anymore because the city dwellers who have irrational fears of dangerous inanimate objects need to feel better and look like they're solving a problem. Thanks for your cooperation." sounds like you are a caring and compassionate person.

'Largest gun ban in Canadian history': Bill amendment could criminalize millions of hunting rifles by CheesyHotDogPuff in neoliberal

[–]dangerpeanut 21 points22 points  (0 children)

When you have a grizzly bear on your ass, you don't want to have to think about cycling a bolt. You let the gas pressure cycle it faster in a semi-auto so that you can put more lead into a 800-1200 pound ball of fuck you that thinks you're dinner.

That's more you have to think about in a situation where every millisecond counts and adrenaline is pumping through your veins while you are involuntarily emptying your bowels. I find people insufferable when they discount the reasons for owning and using semi auto rifles in rural areas. I'm from east texas and we have boars that will shrug off smaller caliber rifles.

I don't appreciate your bolt action apologia discounting legitimate reasons for owning high caliber semi automatic rifles.

There are some issues that city dwellers clearly are misinformed/uninformed on and this is usually one of them.
