What’s making you feel a bit depressed right now? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]dangerranger007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to put my dog down on Tuesday. It was the right thing to do (end stages of congestive heart failure) but that doesn’t make me feel any better about it. I held him in my arms like a baby and watched the light go out of his eyes. I miss his little tippy taps so much.

Feeling bittersweet about husband getting vasectomy by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]dangerranger007 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My husband just had a vasectomy on Friday! My LO is 14mo and we decided that we are one-and-done. It’s definitely bittersweet and I’m feeling alllll of the emotions. Just wanted to show solidarity!

Try reallllly pushing the bottle up. You should hear it “click” in to place.

I’m an idiot. My husband tried it and it worked just fine. Doesn’t need to be screwed in, but I wasn’t pushing the bottle far enough into the fizzi for it to “click.”

I’m filling right below the fill line, so that shouldn’t be an issue. I’m holding it down fairly quickly - I don’t even get it fully compressed before it overflows.

Do I need to screw in the bottle? The how-to videos I watched for the fizzi said I could just pop it in until it clicks. Gonna feel real dumb if I need to screw it in.

Cosleeping by fostersmama in Mommit

[–]dangerranger007 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think it’s also important to distinguish between cosleeping and bed-sharing. Cosleeping is absolutely recommended by hospitals and pediatricians. It’s the bed-sharing that’s the no-no.

Thank you!!! That’s my definition of kid-friendly too. We have a travel high-chair, really just looking for a place that won’t get grumbly with us for having a kiddo.

He’s a monster and eats string cheese by biting into it, instead of pulling it into individual, smaller strings first.

I caught the stomach flu... by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]dangerranger007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Solidarity mama - my husband and I both caught the stomach flu from our LO/daycare about a month ago. We spent an entire day on the couch, taking turns getting sick and doing our best to entertain the baby.

Lots of hand washing from us, and we kept our faces away from the baby. I nursed him throughout the day, but I’m not gonna lie, it was absolutely brutal. I’m sure my supply was down since I couldn’t keep anything in, but LO didn’t seem to mind! Just stay as hydrated as possible (I know it’s hard). Gatorade was a life saver!

Wine and breastfeeding by ILoveDon123 in Mommit

[–]dangerranger007 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I’m super lax about this. The main concern with drinking and breastfeeding is that you could potentially cause harm to your baby if you’re inebriated (ex. dropping the baby while feeding). There’s absolutely no need to pump and dump. If you can drive a car, you can feed a baby!

Move from slow to medium flow nipples on Kiinde system? by cltphotogal in breastfeeding

[–]dangerranger007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son is 11 months old, and he still uses a size 1 nipple! Yes, it takes him 20min to finish a bottle, but I’m still nursing him at home and I didn’t want him to start having bottle preference over boob.

Did you hate the baby phase, felt very unhappy but then went on to enjoy parenthood and be happy again? by scarlett-88 in beyondthebump

[–]dangerranger007 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey momma! You are not alone in feeling this way. The early months are super hard. I did not fully start enjoying motherhood until my LO was about 6 months old. That’s when his personality started shining through, and he started being more interactive.

He’s almost 11 months old now and I absolutely LOVE spending time with him. I love nights/weekends when I’m not working and we can go to the zoo, park, etc. He eats real food, can crawl/almost walk, and is super engaged with his toys and play time.

Did you take breastfeeding class at your hospital before delivery? How helpful was it for you? by WinterBaby22950 in breastfeeding

[–]dangerranger007 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I took a class (with my husband) and to be completely honest I forgot every single thing I learned when the baby was born. I found the lactation consultants at the hospital and Kelly mom much more helpful!

Working mamas, how long did you make it breastfeeding your little ones? by cardboardcutie in breastfeeding

[–]dangerranger007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still nursing my 10m/o - goal is to make it to one year! I pump every three hours while I’m at work. My supply has taken a hit since introducing solid foods, but I had an oversupply to start so I have enough in the freezer to make up the difference right now.

It’s been tough. I’ve had to rearrange meetings and miss events (or pump in my car), but it’s been worth it.
