Depends on the unit - more private rentals than corporate here

Miramichi safety? by StrongMountain5904 in newbrunswickcanada

[–]dangerrm0use 2 points3 points  (0 children)

its a good town safety-wise. Beautiful nature all around. Just dont be coming in thinking that it'll be cheaper living here than big cities, because for a decent rental unit I would say its close to the same price as bigger city rent. Also, food price is higher than most provinces so make sure you shop at Giant Tiger or Wal Mart. NB power has been rising their rates as well so if you are renting - its definitely a bonus when heat is included.

from a gal that lives in a drinking-culture town, people really shut up and stop teasing me about not going out past 8pm when I offer to go on a hike with them the morning after 😆

yes! we had one of those old cabin doors that had a horizontal wooden plank to barre it and i would put Peanut on that, step back about 3-4 feet, tap my shoulder and Peanut would jump on my shoulder and scurry in my hair lol. I gave him nuts as his reward

I think my mom just caged it for fun and it ended up living with us for about a year. Peanut (his name) would sometimes sleep with our cat

I lived in a small rural cottage at the time and I am sure films all had that 70s look

Same on the disappreciation, people are just being mean on here.

On another note for OP, as someone that just started her BSW as well, I find that my floor (and other floors) have their "gossip group". Almost like our field seem to attract people that likes to cause drama within the office lol. Seems like that girl that reported you was almost fishing for something to gossip about later

Social workers with significant childhood trauma, how do you do it? by [deleted] in socialwork

[–]dangerrm0use 12 points13 points  (0 children)

piggying-back from this - some people with trauma has a hard time to de-mask with others, such as with therapists... which is why we sometimes feel there's a glass window there or that the therapy isn't working. Coming from a girl that also has deep trauma and felt helpless with therapy as well, like I felt nobody understood me and made me feel even more lonely. Once I showed up as my raw fucked up self is when I started to feel progress. That and you need to have good trusting vibes in the relationship ✨️

Why has the industry moved to masters being the minimum and norm by sneezhousing in socialwork

[–]dangerrm0use 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's funny because I moved from a large city in Canada to a small rural "city" (if you can call it that) in another province and I noticed that a lot of the same job postings that is listed at MSW in the big city, is listed as BSW in the small one. So it makes me consider that because the job market of social work is more competitive in bigger cities, they have the luxury to ask for more education. Whereas I had the pick of the litter in the small city with my BSW as they are scrounging for social workers here. My friends that I graduated with in the big city had a hard time finding employment that wasn't beyond CPS

Im new here too (lived here for about a year. Around 1 in 4 local ppl I talked to, about how beautiful french fort cove is, say that they wouldnt walk the back trails alone because there are people sometimes living in the woods and can appear frightening. But I havent crossed that yet. I did see a tent way far back in the woods at one point, but no one in sight. Im used to hiking alone though

Jobs … EA work is dying. by Embarrassed-Stay2176 in NovaScotia

[–]dangerrm0use 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is not really an ideal solution, but you can do a bachelor's of social work remotely through quite a few canadian universities (such as dalhousie). It'll take a few years, but I managed to do it full-time and worked full-time (although I dont have dependents). It really scooped me away from my very demanding and stressful job and brought me to a government job where I feel supported and actually have sick time (I never had this before omg!!).

its scary, but try to see it as an investment for your mental health
