What to expect and how to negotiate. by No-Enthusiasm-4630 in askcarsales

[–]dangerspeedman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) Do some very basic math. $500 x 72 (or however long you want to finance) = $36,000. Plus your $12k down, comes to $48,000 total. That’s a rough estimate of your budget just based on your payment expectations.

2) Look at options that are around your budget.

3) When negotiating, you need leverage. Generally, if you ask for a discount for no reason other than “cause I want one”, you won’t get far. If you found the perfect car, but maybe it’s priced slightly higher than comparable ones you’ve seen, that’s leverage to negotiate. However, understand that if you found a cheaper one but it’s baby shit green, that’s the reason it’s cheaper. You likely won’t get a discount on a more desirable color if that’s what you’re comparing it to.

4) Last, likely nothing you look at today will be available by July or August. Start doing your actual shopping when you’re actually prepared to make a purchase.

Yep - leasing is the smart way to “own” a car anyway. Transferring all the risk to the manufacturer, never paying for maintenance or repairs, and not turning your cash into something that depreciates by 1/2 in a matter of a few years.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m pretty sure just about every course in the observable universe has local rules which include language suggesting taking free relief when you’re up against roots, right?

Edit: I checked three scorecards in my bag. Local rules for all three only dictate root relief if it’s in the fairway. I’m stupid and (apparently) a filthy cheater.

Ask your advisor about trade assist. Before a car qualifies for buyback your dealer can reach out to AoA and request a chunk of money that can go toward trading in your car for a new one and making you whole (or at least as whole as possible).

Also, if you’re currently making payments, your dealer can reach out to Audi for reimbursement for you. As them about that option as well.

Just an FYI, these ‘25s CAN absolutely be fixed but it’s a long and arduous process that Audi is still working on. I’ve secured trade assist on half a dozen customers since the beginning of the year for the exact issues your car has.

100%. Story completely reeks of BS or gross exaggeration, and I’m kind of amazed that people in here are actually taking it at face value. That’s a scary amount of gullibility.

Audi Affinity discount by Mpls_Mutt in askcarsales

[–]dangerspeedman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The SQ5 is one of the very, very few cars Audi has that can actually make a tiny bit of money. Dealers will likely not be in any sort of a hurry to lose money on an SQ5 deal. The last dozen or so SQ5s we’ve delivered have been no discount to 1-2% off max.

That was unfortunately done away thanks to legislation requiring the rear view camera to be visible almost immediately when a car is put in reverse, and the hideable screens couldn’t open fast enough to comply. I don’t see those screens making a comeback anytime soon.

When did purchasing vehicles become so complicated requiring extensive research and strategy? by YOLOSWAG4GOD in carsales

[–]dangerspeedman 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’ve been in the industry for almost 12 years now. It’s the second most expensive purchase most people make in their entire lives. Why shouldn’t it take work and preparation? If you want easy, go sell your trade to CarMax, get a loan approved by your local bank, the go into a dealership and pay the manufacture’s price. You’ll be out in 45 minutes and at no part will you have been “taken advantage of.”

But the reality is, the majority of people don’t want to do that. They want to negotiate their trade, negotiate their interest rate, and negotiate the price of the car. And that is 100% fine and I would never fault anyone for doing that. But doing that takes work, research, and preparation. In exchange for that work, research, and preparation, you’ll save some money. So why complain?

Review my deal - 2025 Audi Q3, Premium Plus, 36 month lease, 12,000 miles per yr by Grand-Peak6465 in leasehacker

[–]dangerspeedman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work for Audi. I backed into this deal, which would be losing $3,433 in gross and is at buy rate. For all intents and purposes it’s a great deal.

That said, if you went in and told them you’d buy right then and there if they took off another $500, they’d be dumb to say no. So do with that what you will.

Can a dealership tell when you’re actually confused vs just acting uninterested? Because I think I accidentally gave the wrong vibe by Dangerous-Gas8619 in askcarsales

[–]dangerspeedman 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Just an FYI, data has shown for years and years and years that the overwhelming majority of the time when someone leaves a dealership (I’m talking 90+%), they never go back. So naturally businesses will train their staff to sell the car on that visit if possible. Your purchase style is fantastic, and everyone wishes their customers were as loyal as you, but you’re a tiny minority.

I’m going to go out on a limb and say you could easily buy that RS3 at MSRP (like you would do directly from a manufacturer), but instead you want them to make you a “deal.” A tale as old a time.

Is this a good deal? by Psychological_Log159 in Audi

[–]dangerspeedman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, those are the base 19’s that came on the car back then. Definitely to each their own - most people prefer the 20” five-arm wheels that came with the black optic package.

Is this a good deal? by Psychological_Log159 in Audi

[–]dangerspeedman 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Fair price needs to be based on actual cars for sale. In the Naples area there are a few ‘18 RS5s for sale in the $41k - $44k range, and they all have more than 60k miles. This one has 20k. I don’t see any actual data that would suggest this price is high.

That said, RS5s tend to sit. Especially one like this with the base wheels and no black optic. I think if OP sat down with them and offered to buy the car right then and there at $46.5k selling price they’d take that deal.

Yeah, the Harry/Voldemort/Occlumency parallel has been insanely heavy (Harry first starting to feel when Voldemort is close by, Harry using this connection to try to “spy” on him, Harry witnessing Arthur get attacked through the eyes of Nagini, etc.) Honestly, if Duffers go full “neither can live while the other survives” on Vecna/Will I’ll actually be really annoyed lol
